Yesterday, I swear, he blew the whistle before anything happened and nothing did happen. Three other people around me felt the same.

That illegal pick called on Baye was nonsense. It has come time for old whiskey breath to step down. He and Burr look so out of place with all of those athletes.

After a couple games where the officiating wasn't much of a story, good ole Higgins came in and made another mockery of his profession.

First of all, the guy missed illegal screen after illegal screen and just randomly decides to call one with about 7:00 to go.

His favorite song has got to be "Anticipation" by Carly Simon because his does that often on calls. A call on Dion early in the game was a full-blown anticipation call. Two of Fab's calls were questionable at best, including one right before the half where Higgins blew the whistle on a play where there was clearly no contact.

On and on it goes. And for some reason, so does he.

Way to go Brent

I hate Higgins. I just got home and am watching the game now. The 3 second violation he called on Fab was at most 2 seconds. Total BS. The over the back on Fair was BS as well shoulda been a jump ball. Fair never made contact with Olander. I am up not even up to the under 12 TO and he is already screwing up the game.

And from memory the Dion foul where Dion's body shielded Higgins who made the call on a fast break from mid court was atrocious. Dion never made contact on the play and was dumb founded at the call.

Watching that play live on TV and replaying it several time on the DVR we could see no contact at all.

He anticipates the call way before it happens and blows the whistle before the potential violation occurs

Who reviews his performance? They obviously do not hold him to a very high standard. Do these guys have tenure like the old history teacher at the high school who does not teach a thing a gets away with it?

The only thing Old Tim should be blowing into is a breathalyser before each game

I thought the Fair over the back was pretty sketchy as well, I think that was one of his calls to ensure the home team doesn't extend the lead too far.

The moving screen on Baye was insane - the next time down (i think it was the very next time) the screen up top for UConn moved back and stuck his hips out to block our guy. I'm okay with not calling that, it wasn't much of a hinderance, but right after that Baye call - ummm, you kind of have to call it.

That being said, I could probably deal with all of that if he didn't blow the whistle BEFORE the fouls occur and stopped calling fouls on plays where there is absolutely no way in hell he can see the play from the angle he's at (obstructed or just not in position).

He sucks.

Ghost, I agree--he really does suck. TiVo'd the game and rewatched it today. The call on Dion [trailing the play] was completely anticipatory. Dion never even touched the guy.

He's consistently makes calls that are off the wall for where he's positioned.

Way to go Brent Make that 4 people OE, at least 3 times.

FYI, this is called pulling a Buck Henry. Tim Higgins is the King of the Buck Henry.

Have you guys seen this commercial?

I feel that it is Higgins/Burr-esque.

and the classic non-three second call that was posted here a few weeks ago.

If you look at tape from two years ago against Louisville there are about 6 or 7 just like it in a 6 point loss.

When you see stuff like this it's obvious there are no standards and practices as far as reviews for this idiot.

I used to think Higgins had it in for Syracuse, but through the years I've refined my theory to this: Higgins HATES fans and LOVES attention. This is a recipe for disaster if you are the home team. He lives for the moment when all eyes are on him, he feeds off of the boos like plants feed off of sunlight. It gives his face that red shine. Well, that and the whiskey. Don't get me wrong, I don't like seeing him on the court for an SU game, but if we are on the road I don't mind quite as much.

A local ref was of the same ilk. I have some inside stories from a friend of his where he bragged about screwing Boeheim. Do you remember who was one of the two refs who did the infamous G' town game at Manley?

Have you ever tried running up and down a basketball court for 40 minutes with a hangover?

Give the old guy a break. He calls fouls to rest his weary body.

He should be playing Bingo in Florida.

Wow. The guy was in the lane the whole clip, which lasted 21 seconds. Amazing.
