Tim Lester's total yardage rankings at Elmhurst, WMU, St Joseph's, Devry, Peoria School of Puppetry

I'm not the one who thinks it's better to lose pretty than win ugly.
We'll never know since the program is committed to not trying, but I would venture to guess that there would be a lot more optimism and fan support for a 5-7 team that lost their games 42-38 than a 7-5 team that won their games 17-14.

People can disagree with that. I don't care. I've been living with watching our crap offense for a decade and a half now. It is what it is. We're not going to learn, or change.

since being as bad as pariani is allowed due to injuries, we can look at prior years.

national rankings in offense
Elmhurts
2012 47th
2011 15th
2010 54th
2009 114th
2008 76th

2007 DC at some school i never heard of
WMU qb coach
2006 67th
2005 48th

one year at some dII st joe indiana
2004 68th in dII

as offensive coordinator at elmhurts
2003 49th
2002 unavailable - they weren't top 50

There are lots more dIII schools than dI but that also means there are lots more dIII coaches to hire

I keep reminding myself that shafer is going to be gone in a year or two so it won't matter soon enough. But still, what in the world are we doing?

More numbers, just focusing on his last stop and the 4 years with the Furco/Scottie Williams two-headed monster.

2012 420 yds/game, 69 plays/game (66% run, 33% pass); 5.4 team yds/carry; 135.7 passing efficiency; 23 passes/game; 12.2 team yds/catch
2011 455 yds/game, 74 plays/game (60% run, 40%pass); 5.0 team yds/carry; 143.1 passing efficiency; 29 passes/game; 13.2 team yds/catch
2010 390 yds/game, 69 plays/game (49% run, 51% pass); 4.2 team yds/carry; 125.3 passing efficiency; 35 passes/game; 12 team yds/catch
2009 346 yds/game, 67 plays/game (55% run, 45% pass); 5 team yds/carry; 111.3 passing efficiency; 30 passes/game; 11.4 team yds/catch

I see a team offense that grew along with its talent at QB and especially RB over 4 years. Furco, for all the talk about him, is never that great. His size and pluckiness help to exaggerate his accomplishments. Once they move to relying more on Scottie Williams, the offense improves. I hope Lester also has realized in looking back at the Elmhurst stats that a faster tempo offense is a more productive offense. That's pretty much the difference between 2011 and 2012 is 5 additional plays a game.

It doesn't allay all of my fears but it's not as gloomy an assessment as Millhouse makes out.

I dig Millhouse stats posts - but this one proved that he could be in the top quarter of D3, which extrapolated out would be a top 30 offense (obviously these things are not equal) - so I came the exact opposite opinion: that he could be pretty good.

The idea that this is a continuation of McDonald, or worse some sort of B1G meathead offense is an over reaction to using two TE's. I don't know what it will end up being - but I'm hopeful (as usual).
