This team just isn't very good in any aspect of the game. A new offense hid the warts for a little while, but once teams adjusted we're right back to the same old .

The players are sub par, the coaching is sub par, and the on-field mental mistakes are unforgivable. You can't get over that hump when you constantly are shooting yourself in the foot.

It's pathetic that I get excited each weekend that this team might "turn the corner." They may as well start the coaching search right now, because it's obvious we need a big time superstar as coach to gain any traction back that we lost in the early to mid 2000s. It's sad to think that those teams from the 90s and 80s could potentially be the last "elite" football I'll ever see on the hill.

This is getting ugly. SU is really over matched in this one. I'm impressed with the athletes on Rutgers, especially on the defensive side of the ball. On offense, their wide outs make our wideouts look like a bunch of smurfs.

I can't fathom how with an offense struggling so much you keep the player who may be the most physically gifted on the team on the bench. If he fumbles, so what? We're not gonna score if we DON'T use him, I'd rather take the chance. He's not good in pass protection, so what? Don't make him block. Put the ball in his hands so he can gain yards.

how are we over matched in a game where we dont punt in the half. hold them to 200 yards and then only crossed midfield once?

So ... don't run pass plays when AB is in the game.

Just run all the time .. .against the #20 rushing defense in the country.

Whats really scary is we are within one score of Rutgers (who is supposedly #20 in the country) with 4 minutes left and we gave the game to them.

You can say the same exact thing about NW and the Rutgers game last year. It never changes with Marrone's teams.

This game was not as close as the score. The Rutgers defender made a bonehead play going for an INT when there was no chance of it.

I think Nassib has a great arm and this team would be so much better If he didn't over think at times! He gets nervous and chokes on 50% of the big plays.

I said something similar early on...especially regarding our WR's. We have three WR's (Lemon, West and Sales) who are basically possession type guys. None of the three can consistently stretch the field. The high tempo hid this weakness until the Minny game.

If you eliminate the 5 TO's, we win this game today. But I think you're right about the warts...kind of like putting a round peg in a square hole. We truely lack play makers on offense. The defense was great.

I knew Hackett wasn't the solution last season. You can't let a young, inexperienced coach experiment with finding his style and philosophies on this level. That is why there is DII football. But Hackett's dad was a really bad coach decades ago, so I guess it's worth giving him a shot at running a BCS offense. :bang:

Unfortunately, coaching personnel decisions fall squarely on Marrone. I wouldn't have given the keys to an unproven commodity if my career depended on it, but DM made that decision and now he has to go down with the ship because of it.

Let the new coaching search begin because the Marrone era just ended.

Uhhhh, no. Put him in the slot and throw it to him. Throw him middle screens or bubble screens. There are a number of ways to get him the ball other than handing it to him where he doesn't have to run a complicated pattern. Then if that works, use him as a decoy to open up the run or get someone else open.

I agree it's ugly, the losing that is. However, the only thing over matched in this game was our self-inflicted miscues vs. theirs. 7-7 at the half and we drive right down the field to start the 2nd half and self-destruct. Prior to the block FT, another false start on the OL. Otherwise, who knows...we may get a TD on that drive. The blocked FT was beyond huge...it changed the complexion of the game entirely...10 point swing right there...

I don't know if it's Marrone or Hackett who has made the decision not to play Broyld. If it's not an academic or discipline issue, this is inexcusable.

Maybe he just isn't very good. He said himself last week that he has a lot to learn and he's making too many mistakes to play. He said he hasn't earned his time yet. People need to get over this Broyld playing time issue. He hasn't shown me a reason to even put him on the field. People need to move on. If he was so much better than everybody else, don't you think the coaching staff would put him on the field?

Exactly, inexcusable. Ultimately it's Marrone making the decision. If Hackett didn't want to but Marrone did, Marrone wins. He's the boss.

Except for the fumble, Broyld has played very well in his limited exposure. Have you watched the games? The 2nd string QB has not thrown 1 pass in 2 years. The coaching staff you refer to has shown no progress in 4 years, so excuse me if I don't have your great faith in their judgement.

If he hadn't played at all yet, I'd say your argument had a chance. However, that's not the case. He was getting increasingly more reps and was the best player on the team at getting yards by himself. What freshman doesn't have a lot to learn. He was being a good teammate and saying the right thing. He's the most talented playmaker on the team.
