Time to throw out the starting lineup...

It has become obvious that Fair and Dion are so much better with Melo on the floor. But neither have the offense capabilities rolling without Melo to help form a triangle underneath the basket.

Teams now have us scouted when Melo isn't in the game they didn't before.
When Melo gets back Offensively I think our best lineups are now upper and lower class. While that sounds like some strange attempt at wisdom its more just coincidence. I hope the coaches feel the say way that we are scouted out and exposed much more without Melo and try to get a 4th solid scorer in the lineup(going to have to be Southerland) to help Triche, KJO and Scoop(who have been awesome lately).

upperclass lineup.
1.Triche,
2. Scoop,
3. KJo.
4. Southerland My message to southerland. "Step it up your only as good as your weakest link."
Southerland gives us a 4th spot up scorer and gets better looks the Fair and Dion have been getting with the absence of Melo. Hence we get four scorers on the floor.

Lowerclass lineup of.
1.Melo
2. Dion
3. Fair.
4. one of our guards.
5. one of our forwards as a 5th scorer or Rak for toughness on D.

Where Rak fits in is yet to be seen as a freshmen. Maybe he will get it done as a PF. Needs to work hard on his conditioning to get up to the speed of the game if he want's more minute at PF in march. Hes a workmanlike type like Triche this year not a flashy freshmen. Time to buckle down!

With Melo on the floor we go to 5 solid scorers from the 3-1/2 we have had in KJO, Triche, Scoop and Southerland. Southerland thets make that lineup 4!!

Coaches need to get on Southerland big time and have him shoot to billion jumpers.
He needs to shoot alot the next few weeks. One or two more losses won't mean much. But, building his confidence he can't shoot himself out of games and that we need him (100% not somebody else) to be a go to guy. That will make him all the better.

I never thought I would see the day where seniority starting means nothing. We are truly blessed.

I am going to sum it up short and sweet.
The coaches have two options right now.

1. use our lineup without Melo to try to hang on and temper teams runs. (Which is a hang on attitude. Not a fan of that.)
or
2. Get a 4th scorer out there with Kris, Triche and Scoop. (Smell blood when Melo isn't in the game instead of hiding.)

Number two is a better awnser.
Your only as good as our weakest link. James is our 4th scorer when Melo is out right now. He is our weakest link right now. All the pressure is on him. He needs to shoot alot more the next few games.

Even if it cost us a game or two, it will make us better in the end.

Our 03 and 09-10 team had four solid options on offense on the floor at all times

Who else was on the floor really wasn't important in the equation.

The point of the lineups was...

Lineup #1. Scoop Dion and Triche need to be on the floor when Melo isn't unless James heats up or we get lots of transition. And transition is way overated in tough games. Way overated. Thats why announcers give it to us because they know we won't get alot of it say 6 games in a row.

Lineup #2. Dion and Fair play off Melo. Dion did nothing without a low post threat last year. CJ did very little when Rick Jackson played bad last year in high post. And They have done very little when Melo isn't in this year. Its just part of their youth and their games right now.


And the other things I said.
Like the 09-10 and 03 teams having 4 solid scorers on the court at all times and James having more chance to help the Scoop Triche and KJO trio. Floor spacing based on your offensive weapons. We used so much more of the floor with Melo and late in the Cincy/WVU games then we did in the entire ND and first half of the ND and Cincy games.

Big Kudos to Triche Scoop and KJO.
