Tirico to BOT

To say this is deserved is an understatement. The guy is big time. And he bleeds Blue and Orange the way crazy posters on here would. He is a true fan.

Honestly it would not surprise me to find out he lurked on here or even posted on here. Possibly CaliCuse
Back when he was at Channel 5, he would come up and hang out from time to time with us at the sports staff of WAER. Normal guy and all, he wasn't "Mike Tirico" yet. Funny thing was he swore like a sailor. Nothing wrong with that but I often wondered how he didn't slip up when doing a game.

Mike is a truly nice human being. Very generous with his time -- not just to SU, but also to SU students and everyone else he meets. On the air, when doing an SU game, he always gives full disclosure, but his broadcasting is always professional with no hint of fandom.

I think, as a rule, all of the SU sports broadcasters play it pretty much right down the middle. It's that good Newhouse education.

I know Pam Ward and Van Pelt are Twerps. But everyone else at ESPN went to SU? OMG, it never ends with you people!

Lighten up, Francis. ;)

Who didn't swear like a sailor when they were in college?

I know. But the more you do, the easier it is for something to slip on air. "Holy S***, what a dunk". Oops.
