Sparked by a post from AtlFan in another thread, today is bandwagon day. If SU wins they jump on and if they don't in their minds it's the same ole SU. Unfortunately they're needed to help fill the Dome because the 25K of us that have been doing so just ain't enough. The next level is within the cusp of reaching so.... LGO!!!!

If we win today, does the media run with "Syracuse is back" much like with Texas last year and Miami, every year?

In the minds of non-alumni media I don't know that SU is a big enough brand to ever say we're back. If we win today and keep it rolling through the rest of the year, we could be the surprise team of this season. If it then carries over to next year, we could place ourselves where Oregon was a few years ago where we matter nationally. I'd take that in a heart beat.

Absolute necessity to be competitive today, otherwise the casuals are off to other things and the media (national) says it was a fluke (despite beating up on Clemson in every possible way). Got to be in this in the fourth, at the very least to keep the wife believing I wasn't crazy for hanging in all these years!
Most people think my wife is crazy keeping me around for all these years so she can relate with you in this scenario.

Unfortunately, I don't think Syracuse will ever be back unless we can hang on to Babers for a while. We're a catch 22 school. Hire a coach good enough to make you competitive, and he's gone in 3 to 4 years. Hire a coach who can't win, and he's gone in 3-4 years.

I sympathize to a degree with the "bandwagon" fanbase given the "horror" we have all been repeatedly subjected to over the past 16 years. We, the hardcore fans, should welcome the bandwagoners back on board at this point - we need all the support we can get. We can go back to throwing rocks after we turn the corner.

I don't like that all these people are picking Cuse to WIN the game. Not cover the +16, not keep it close, but WIN outright. Axe, Mink, Bailey, on CFB Live Thursday both Joey Galloway and Trevor Madich. That makes me nervous as hell all these people are calling for the outright win. I think they win, but of course the last time I had them losing a game was, well never.

Duke, GT and FSU are their best test so far. I also (cautiously) wonder how good they are.
Compare that to LSU, NCST, and Clemson for our best 3.
Granted they won all of theirs but I would argue our best 3 opponents would likely beat all of Miami’s best 3 opponents.
Am I crazy?

Not to mention Miami is as close to being 3-2 as we are to being 7-0. I could see them coming out with a chip to make their case as well as I could see us jump all over them.
