Tommy Devito: Patriots

Free Super Bowl tickets, best seat in the house, and he doesn't have to do anything
Maybe he is called upon to save the Patriots at the end of the game, similar to what he did at SU a couple of times in his freshman season.

Marrone has been a massive addition to the Patriots this year. Absolutely massive. Will be very happy for him to possibly get a ring this year.

Tommy? As minimal of as an addition as you can get.
It’s funny because he was one play away of taking jville to the Super Bowl and denying Brady on last trip.

Game still makes me mad as they out played them until a little way through the 4th quarter.

As a Patriots fan very happy with this. He has much more upside than Dobbs and I expect this means he will be QB2 now.

as a pats fan, do you know if he was on the active roster at all last season? i know he didn't play. but he needs 3 seasons of being on the active roster for 3 games each to qualify for an nfl pension.

He was not. He was the emergency 3rd QB for every game

He was not. Hoping this season that changes. In think its an insane $ figure to just PS the guy

The minimum for a vet with his service time is around $1.3m. He's getting $2m guaranteed. It's not an insane $ figure by any stretch.

And Dobbs will still be above him on the depth chart because he's a better QB.

Oddly, if he had studied harder on how to be a NFL QB from Daniel Jones, he would’ve got himself hurt and put on the IR for at least 3 weeks, thus qualifying for the pension…

Tommy didn't have any protection at Syracuse - the reason he was consistently being sacked. If he gets to play, he won't have that problem with the Pat's O line.

From the patspulpit.com
After being waived by the New York Giants ahead of the 2025 roster cutdown deadline, the Patriots claimed DeVito, where he joined the quarterback room behind Drake Maye and Joshua Dobbs. DeVito assumed the QB3 role and did not appear in a game as he served as the team’s emergency quarterback throughout the year.

“A lot [of growth]. I think that’s a tough proposition to have, is just coming in at the end of training camp and trying to get acclimated offensively,” head coach Mike Vrabel said of DeVito near the end of the season. “To his credit, he’s done a really nice job, works with guys and receivers on Mondays, maybe guys that are on the practice squad or that didn’t play in the game… I have enjoyed the time here with Tommy.”

Going undrafted in 2023, DeVito joined the Giants as a UDFA before starting six games as a rookie. That included a 10-7 win over the Patriots that indirectly helped New England land Maye in the NFL Draft the following offseason.

DeVito posted a 3-3 record in those starts — becoming a fan favorite in the process — but started just two additional games the rest of his career in New York.
His final appearance with the Giants came in the 2025 preseason against the Patriots, when he threw for three touchdowns just days before being claimed by New England.
Entering 2026, the 27-year-old DeVito will now compete with Dobbs to serve as Maye’s top backup. Dobbs, 31, enters the final year of the two-year contract he signed last offseason with no guaranteed money remaining. New England would save north of $3 million releasing the veteran.

Agree to disagree. Devito's one season where he got a lot of action with NY was better than any season Dobbs has ever had.

Is this a serious post? Did you not watch Drake Maye get sacked the most times in a single NFL postseason a few months ago?
All NFL QB’s who went 14-3 and lost in the Super Bowl should have it sooooo tough and rough.
