Tommy Devito: Patriots

I am going to preface my thought with the fact that I have no dog in the fight nor do I hate Devito. If he does well that’s great, if not then I hope he sets himself up financially and enjoys his life. The only knocks against Devito I could see folks having would be 1.) him essentially quitting before the season ended and 2.) his fathers behavior here did him no favors (again holding that against Tommy isn’t fair) but I could see those two things being reasons why folks aren’t enamored with him.
Quitting is bad, but not a basis for hatred. His father's behavior was not his own, it was his father's responsibility. I agree, the father did no favor for Tommy. Still not a basis for hate.

I was never a big fan of Tommy Devito, I thought he was wrong for the program and certainly not what HCDB was attempting to install. Yet, he did choose SU over others.

P.S. I don't recall you being a hateful poster. Game threads excepted for all of us (because I may need more "leeway" than others).

My only problem was leaving during the season, he would have gotten to play. But outside of that a seemingly good person.

I never post in game threads for that reason ... it gets too emotional. I look at any player that has thrown on the block S as someone who made a choice to represent my alma mater. There are a few players that I wasn't a tremendous fan of for a variety of reasons ... but never hated them. I do agree those reasons aren't sufficient to hate an athlete.

Sad to say some players in their post playing careers have led me to ask questions, but again I agree the hate thing is over the top. No matter the outcome I will cheer for guys who wish to represent the block S.

It is fair to call out the mistakes, decisions, actions, behaviors, whatever, the players are young adults and should own their mistakes as well as successes. Calling out the above is not the same as hate.

Guess I’m confused as to why there’s so much support here (man does that sound mean). Countless times I’ve read on this board when someone transfers, posters say “never rooting for him ever again or man I hope he stinks it up at the other school”. He started 15 games total in his cuse career. He was 5-7 in his 2019 season. Was he really that important at Syracuse that he made a positive impact? Or is everyone just cheering for him now because he’s in the NFL? Genuinely curious
i would say there are bandwagon idiot fans whol likely schlit on him now praising him and then are those of us who are not stupid, can understand talent and who remember how it all went down with Tommy.

poor kid had a RB playing OL for him in 2020 along with a covid decimated team that was then ran back in 21.

he also had a no talent ass clown of a coach who didnt know how to run an offense and instead wanted TE's to play QB.

kid has an apt in NYC and a house in FL.

how many here can now make that claim??

Completely disagree on the bolded comment. Going back to Dino's early remarks about the offense he envisioned, he wanted an accurate thrower (and a run game) to take advantage of what the defense offered. TD fit that description very well - most of us were very happy that he choose SU. Dino switched to a running QB offense because the OLine was not very good (and the run game was not very good - two runs up the A gap and then a pass, yikes!) and ED, and then Shrader, were more effective in the resulting diaster.

It is somewhat analogous to the ISO ball we saw the last years of JB in basketball.

I thought we were going to start a dynasty in 2019. We had a Dino Babers system highly rated QB. The glory was back in the land of Orange.
Cutlets is the new fast!

Unfortunately, it didn't work out.
