I hate to be that guy, but any chance we sneak into the rankings with Louisville, Mizzou and LSU losing and certainly dropping out? Arizona State will definitely jump in after the K State win and Iowa State should jump back in. In the AP poll, Pitt, Louisiana Lafayette and UNLV were the only other teams that received votes, behind Iowa State

It's possible, we're in 4th place in our conference right now. We'll definitely be getting some votes.

I don't think there's a chance we get in the rankings. I'd be surprised if we get 5 votes.
Wouldn’t shock me if that were the case. Our resume isn’t bad, 3-2 road record with wins over UNLV, Cal, NC State, home wins over Ga Tech and Va Tech. One bad loss to Stanford. But you are probably correct, at least in the AP poll, coaches poll might be a bit nicer to us

Well, right now the only ranked 3-loss teams are in SEC or they're Louisville. And Louisville is obviously getting dropped.

I agree there's three new spots and Iowa State is taking one of them. ASU (8-2, just beat No. 20 K State) would be my guess for the next spot. Baring some crazy group of four team, that leaves one spot for a 3-loss team. I dunno. Illinois smashed MSU I guess.

Of all the other 3 loss teams I just don't see it going to us, unfortunately. I mean to AP folks our case on paper doesn't look much stronger than Duke.

That darn Stanford 4th and 9...

We won’t get into a top 25 until we force our way in. I think cosmetically if we beat up UConn next week some will look at the matchup vs Miami as a reason to rank us

I always remember 1994 when the pollsters moved us to 10 illogically because we had Miami next. This stuff is a glorified beauty contest

I do think our only realistic chance to get in the Top 25 is to win out. A win against Miami would push us over the top.

just listened alto the Cover 3 pod from last night and two of them have Cuse at 25 and they have votes. I will say that I dont believe the Kansas-BYU game was over when the did the segment. So out of all the pollsters that is 2 points if they follow thru.

Ah the R word. I think we will have a AP few votes. Beat UConn comfortably and a few more teams lose I think we can be Top 30 in the AP going into Miami.

8-3 beating Uconn we’re probably ranked if a couple other dominos fall

I have seen some early voter polls on line

We will get some votes but won't be ranked by AP

Coaches is a crap shoot but also likely just receiving votes

The AP and Coaches poll don’t matter at this point. The AP does somewhat for after bowl season. I have a hunch we may sneak in at number 25 in the CFP rankings on Tuesday night. The Stanford loss looks a little less bad this morning after their upset of Louisville.

That has zero bearing on our ranking.
Sure it does. What are rankings based on? Opinions. Voters don’t have a high opinion of teams that get steamrolled by teams like BC.

Cal was a huge win, especially for us SU fans. We see a team and coach win a game that we’d normally lose and we’re deservedly excited as we should be. But to the rest of the nation a win over Cal is a shoulder shrug.

Win two more and all else is likely to be forgotten.

Not a single voter is using a criterion like "did they give up 300 yards rushing to Boston College" as voting rationale.

Okay, how’s this, “do I think this is a good team?” “No”. That’s their criteria. Where do you think their data points come from? I suppose if they just saw that we lost to BC, that is enough. If they happen to look at a box score, well, that’s even more reason. And, if they happen to be knowledgeable, then they certainly have reason not to rank us.
