I wasn't expecting him to step in and be a superstar from day 1, but I was expecting him to be better than average. Especially after he took over the Carleton game late. As of now he is just another player out there. I definitely expect him to be very good come the end of the season, but right now he's just kinda ehhhh.

He will be fine. Still learning.

Ennis is a blowby pg right now not a isolation one, but he is driving the ball good for a fresh.

Thought the transition with him would be a little smoother, but I've seen enough of him in high school, at a high level of competition, to know that he has the goods. He's not making shots, including free throws, that he made in high school. He'll be fine, but we may need to be patient.

Ennis, will be fine. Not finishing strong at all right now. but has no problem getting to the hole. Hoping he develops into a Billy E. Although must say not as creative as I thought he would be. There really is not a creative passer on this team at all, one that sees angles or anticipates cutters. Sure would help if someone passed to a post player once in a while.
JB loves the pro iso's so he rolls the dice and percentage guy that he is figures he"ll out talent competition

HOFJB will get it figured out, and the boys will step up against the more like talented teams out there

one thing i noticed with ennis is that he really does get to the hoop pretty easily but he cannot finish at all thru contact. Any remote contact throws him off. Early for him though. still learning

Check out how Rysheed Jordan is playing for St. Johns. SU wanted to pair him in the back court with Ennis but he passed on the offer and went to St. Johns where he could be top dog. Supposedly had a higher upside than Ennis but not as polished. He is struggling big time at St. Johns. Kudos to Boeheim for recognizing that Ennis could step in and be a more than capable pg.

When he asserts himself, Ennis is able to get to the basket. Having trouble elevating and finishing. Tough thing to do; even MCW struggled with this in some games.

Ennis will only improve. 4 games.

Ennis will be fine? that's great but unfortunately we need him now - we don't have anyone that can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim - CJ tries but it's not his game - Cooney is severely limited - Ennis has to be the guy putting it on the floor and forcing it some times - we can't just stand around passing - need to penetrate too - remember that back court pass by Baye? forget the guards getting to the rim they can't even get open for a pass at near half court

Love it.

And people were saying they couldn't wait for Ennis over the guy who almost dropped a quadruple double in his first NBA game. And no, this isn't a knock on Ennis.

Ennis had some nice drives but struggled to finish tonight.

The guy has played 4 college games. Lets just allow him to progress.

I still feel Ennis will have a great year for us. I liked how he came back after being taken out in the 2nd half. He only made 1 drive and went to the line another time, but he got to the basket at will. If he starts to play like that and start finding people he is good to go

Incredible. Should I bump the "Should we be worried about CJ" thread?

By the way, is Tyler left handed? He had a lot of drives to his left tonight. My feed was awful, so wasn't sure which hand he favored.

Still wish we had landed that guy.

You just described MCW to a tee. Ennis will be fine people. People are going to want to build statues of him when we win the Maui.

Perhaps Ennis isn't that kind of point guard, the one who creates for himself. He's better at distributing and getting others involved. He can get into the paint, and showed it last night. He needs to make better decisions though and not think shoot first when penetrating. I still think he'll be just fine and is playing pretty well at this point.

He needs some help out there. When Rak and Coleman are in, we really don't look to them so it is 3 on 5. When Grant is in, it is 4 on 5 but we have had some spacing issues with the lane being clogged. CJ is a good 3 pt shooter but infrequently sets up out there. We only took six threes and Cooney took five of them. I think CJ needs to take a couple threes a game. I think Grant needs to take one or two a game. Even if we miss, we still have a chance for a long rebound.

When the lane is less clogged Ennis can operate better.

The bottom line is that we only gave up 50 points and we are going to win almost every time if we keep doing that.

I always get a kick out of that, wanting to replace the current player with a hyped up HS kid. The grass ain't always greener on the other side of the fence...well, unless it's Ricky Williams then it isn't even real grass.

Ennis will be fine. I think Boeheim will have to change some things offensively this year to get the most out of these guys because there are not any real scorer's on this team. Fair is a heck of a player but he can not handle the doubles so somebody has to step up other than just Grant. As Clifton Park said, the middle just can't be so congested...we don't have the shooters so driving to the hoop has to be more of an option.

As I posted in another thread, watch JBs presser. He said how Ennis tried to do things last night he never did before even in practice. That he played like a freshman. Imagine that.
He will be fine.

I think Ennis responded well from getting benched in the second half. The last 10 mins he was very aggressive and made things happen. He will be fine
