Top 100 coaches over the last 50 years

There is an article on ESPN that lays out the top 100 coaches over the last 50 years. Coach Mac is on this list at #80 however, IMO coach P should be on this list instead of or in addition to coach Mac. Coach P's career at SU is much better then many of the coaches on this list. If Mac doesn't take the Patriots job in 90, the big Q for me is what does Syracuse football look like at the end of the decade? How long would he have held on? Was the 91 class all of his guys or was P recruiting at that point.

I think my answer is determined by that question. I think Mac would have been a real legend in college football had he put up Pasqualoni performances from 91-98.

To me Mac taking the Patriots job was the biggest sliding door scenario for the Orange ever

100% that Mac wouldve been an All Time Great if he had P's success for that duration.

as it stands, that success will eventually put P in the College Football Hall of Fame.

It is funny to me how when a new coach takes over and continues the success it is his predecessor who should get credit. If he fails he is not as good as his predecessor. Either way he loses. Yet if he loses a lot of games he blames his predecessor for leaving the cupboard bare. So the only way to do it is to take over a struggling program and win in a few years so the wins count for your record. Yet even when that happens like for Dino with 10 win season it is with guys he his predecessor recruited (Dungey). He can't build his own program. What a crazy profession. Yet those contracts are guaranteed
