I like to say first that I wish only the best for Adrian Autry as the Syracuse basketball coach. I like what the coaching staff has done with respect to the portal and bringing in Starling, Westry, Cuffe and the big guy. I like the possibilities and envision great expectations of success this year.

That said, it is just expectation. Syracuse does not have a demonstrated, proven (yet) cohesive team. We assume that the talent of team from last year can grow and improve with the portal additions. We do not know for a fact if the guard corps can play together and complement each others play/skills. I am not sure where the scoring will come from and how much. I believe with the talent Syracuse has the scoring can be distributed among multiple players and be more than when they depended over the past two seasons on two-three players (Buddy & JGIII or JGIII and Edwards + Mintz) for scoring.

I see a lot of potential for the perceived starting guards Mintz and Starling playing together. Still, I can understand why Syracuse guards were not ranked in the Almanac’s Top 20.

Yo! My man. Cuse backcourt is ranked in the Almanac top 20 (at #20). Did you not even bother to look at the list? That said, I’m sure by the end of season our backcourt will be rated higher than that.

Doesn't that statement apply to several of the teams listed as having a top 20 backcourt? Kansas, UConn, Arizona, Creighton, Arkansas, UNC, Villanova, Baylor, Houston, Texas all will likely have one (if not two) starting guards that are new to the team.

I agree...except for the point that the Orange were ranked # 20.
That ranking is largely based on the raw talent expectation of how guys who haven't played together will perform together.

Yup. NIL is a roster flipper. And it's going to be based on the NCAA's transfer rules. That's why schools like FAU can be rated so highly. I thought Red did a helluva job. It's too bad we lost Jesse but nothing Red could have done about that. Lots of other schools might have lost guys like Judah, Benny, Maliq, Chris.
