First off, most important is that Syracuse won.

But some other interesting stuff going on today:

Turning into a terrible day for the Big East:

Georgetown losing to rival Syracuse
Seton Hall losing to "rival" Rutgers
Butler losing to rival Purdue
East Tennessee St might be pulling off a massive upset at Xavier.

Xavier survives... had to come back 18 at home against a team around #130 in KenPom.
Kentucky hangs on on.
Does Oakland have another push?

To me, the bottom line is that at least until late january there really aren't that many truly good basketball teams. MSU has been fine -- quality wins over ND and Carolina and a perfectly acceptable loss to Duke -- but they had their hands full with Oakland and RU and beat Ferris STate by 8. I'm not saying they're not good but you figure a true top-5 team rolls over those others most of the time. Kentucky has looked creaky all season so far. Duke lost to freaking BC ...

Bottom line, it's hard to be good early in the year when you are constantly overhauling your roster.

Other than Xavier none of those other scores surprise me.

The use of "Strange" in my title was a little off.

But given that all that was already happening by 3;00 today... it was certainly an interesting start of the day in terms of following some scores

Not sure if Wichita St should have been #3. They are very good, and somebody has to be in the top 5. A good day for the Big 12 as the Oklahoma's win two top 25 road games.
