A top 25 Big Man costs between $4-5M??? seriously?

In the nba, the biggest max contract is equal to 35% of the cap. If you have $12 mil in NIL (which seems like the budget that serious p5 schools are operating with), 35% of that is $4.2 mil, which is in that range. There aren’t 25 bigs getting that much, but I’d believe that of the top 20-30 “max” players who could ask for that much, maybe half of them are centers

Ehh... we have a lot of mediocre. It's early so I'm not worried yet, but a bunch of mediocre wont' cut it. We need 1-2 superstars with this group. Gerry got hired because donors backed him, so they better come through and help us buy superstars.

It’s way too early to call next years version of Sadiq, MMM, Kiyan and Doty as mediocre. Everyone is jumping the shark right now.

If the top 50 in the portal are gone by next week and we have nothing to show for it .. not even another Euro then the time to worry may be here. We’ve got a lot of time and staff work ongoing before we get there. We have money so let’s see what they can do with it.

IMO we shouldn't hope that one of those guys becomes a superstar. We should get an established superstar or two. By all accounts Gerry is our HC because donors backed him. The expectation of fans is that those donors will make us a big time player in the portal so our season doesn't hinge on under the radar players making a sophomore leap.

Duke is estimated to have spent more than $25.2 million on men's basketball in 2023-2024. This figure includes coaches salaries, travel expenses and overall expenditures on the program. It does not include Duke's name, image and likeness spending which schools don't have to reveal publicly. Since nil payments to players began we have witnessed a huge jump in payouts every year. The payments top players received two years ago was only a fraction of what the college stars got last year. Armando Bacot was paid over $1 million to play for a fifth year at North Carolina in 2023. One can only imagine what he would have made playing college hoops this year.

Since colleges do not have to release nil spending information, there are no actual details on what they are paying to players. Duke is believed to be the top ACC program in nil spending followed by North Carolina, Miami and Virginia. Syracuse nil payouts last year were estimated to be far below the payments by the schools that made this year's Sweet Sixteen. Go Cuse!
