Class of 2025 Top Prospects NYS Class of 2025

Is Filardi going to one of those kids that coaches can’t keep off the field, as in his measurable don’t speak P4 QB, but he just produces. (Guys like Flutie, Theismann, etc.)

Great question. The guy is a winner and seems to succeed at everything he does.

I would not be surprised if he ends up being a star in two sports for Syracuse. Hopefully Coach Brown recruits a number of top QBs to make it hard to Joe to get the starting job. Pretty sure though that Coach Nixon would prefer a dual threat QB to run his offense.

You asked for you, you got it.

Here is my first draft of the top prospects in New York in the class of 2025.

A couple of moved but they are still New York kids in my book so I am continuing to list them, though I note they are now playing out of state.

I think this is something we will probably continue to see because there just isn’t much focus from college coaches on NYS.

As in recent years, most of the best players are located in the NYC/Westchester county area, though Syracuse CBA and Bennett in Buffalo are starting to produce multiple D1 players as well. I think with the new coaching staff, we are far better positioned to recruit NYC and the lower Hudson region than we were with the previous coaching staff.

Looks like a strong class. Already 20 kids with D1 offers and there will be more coming. I am sure I have missed some kids and have to review a few more areas and look at a bunch more film before I will be done here.

Let’s see what happens.

Note that I have also started a list of the top players in the class of 2026. Will try and add a page for 2027 later as well.

Note: when you click on the link, select the Preview Spreadsheet option to view it.

I always look forward to this Cat. Thanks

Seemed like a lot of talent in 2025 class. Seems less in 2026 but guys may step up that are under the radar.

I think there’s a high 4 star - low 5 star receiver in Rochester for class of 26
Gleaning from sutomcats original post here, that would be Messiah Hampton. Interesting that 4 of sutomcat's top 5 NYS players have relocated to Fl., Ga., and Alabama.

I think Messiah Hampton and his brother did some leaf raking and snow shoveling for me about 4-5 years ago. Funny story for another day.
I will try to keep this short. When my oldest was a young teen, he (we) had dreams of playing college baseball. He was 6’2” and a lefty pitcher with lots of movement on his ball. Trained with Frank DiPinonfor a whole until he had an arm injury.)
Friend of the family knew Tony Gwynn from college. Our friend saw Tony on a plane and said he knew a tall lefty who wanted to play for him at SD State. Tony asked where he lived. The friend told him “Syracuse”. Tony said, “ The first thing he has to do is move”.

Just happened to notice that sutomcat posted this list on Dec. 26 of 2023.

We're coming up soon on Dec. 26, 2024.

Just in case a certain someone has forgotten something...

When even Syracuse couldn’t be bothered to recruit upstate NY, I don’t blame good prospects for going elsewhere to get more attention. I think things are changing now with Coach Brown and better player evaluation, lack of prejustice against players from upstate NY.

That shines a light on NYS recruiting that has been dimmed for a long time. I predict less movement of top players to other states because of this.

Fran Brown is changing the world for the better in many ways. ;)

Okay, I get the subtle hint. Yes, I will make a post on the class of 2026 (which looks very good early) a little after Christmas. My gift for our recruitniks.

I am not sure we will ever take as many players from NYS again as we did in the class of 2025, but the class has some really talented kids in it.
