Just back from 3 days at TIFF. Wasn't able to get tix this year to some of the bigger movies (e.g. Gravity - 12 Years a Slave) but caught some good ones that picked up distribution deals at Toronto. BTW, 12 Years a Slave got rave reviews and standing ovations.
Bad Words - directed by and starring Justin Bateman. Think Bad Santa at a spelling bee. Out loud funny in parts. Could be a hit. Audience liked it a lot.
Lucky Them - Long in development (Paul Newman headed up initial efforts before his death - Joanne Woodward in a producer role), Stars Toni Collette and the extremely droll and hilarious Thomas Hayden-Church. There is a surprise cameo at the end. Also stars Oliver Platt (when is he ever not awesome?) Not getting into the plot right now. Just go see it.
TIFF is a really fun time if you get the chance. And Toronto has the most beautiful women in the world - and nobody is even in 2nd place.
