Our first game had the dual problem of starting crazy late, and following a game featuring team with a “home” following, who saw the game they paid for and weren’t interested in sticking around in Detroit until well past midnight.
I'm not just talking about our game, though.

This problem will never go away for 3 well-discussed reasons:
-2 games per session, many people don’t want to see both (or all of both)
-Distant sites from home fans
-No beer sales in arena, encourages extra drinking outside

The first one came into play Friday night in Detroit. The arena was packed and then most of the MSU fans left after the first game and then the place looked empty. They should play the "home team" (hate having to type that) in the nightcap. Maybe the greedy b&stards should lower the ticket prices too given all the money they make from tv.

Maybe they should sell game tickets instead of just session tickets making more tickets available for fans of the teams actually playing in the games. Let session tickets still be an available option.

Would be impossible to clear the arena in a reasonable time.

Would this work? Then create the session tickets as a two ticket package so one game ticket can be sold by fans before hand when they are only interested in one game.

Problem would be: Suppose fans who had first game tickets decided not to leave. You would have more people than seats in the arena.

My biggest annoyance with the session tickets is that teams playing in the first game ... get tickets for the rows behind the team benches.
As a result, the behind-the-bench tickets for the second game ... are on the opposite side of the arena. And for some reason, we always seem to play in the second game.

That is why the crowd shots on Friday showed such a sparse number of people in the rows behind the team benches. The other side of the arena (out of camera-view) was full of Syracuse people. Thank goodness that some Bucknell fans stayed. At least they supplied some orange behind our bench.
