Transfer Rules when Head Coach Leaves

What are they? Can players request a release from their current school and play immediately elsewhere or do they have to sit a year like a normal transfer?

I'm thinking about Thomas Bryant transferring from IU, obviously.

It's doubtful it would work though unless he legitimately had a family member not feeling
