Transfer Targets 2026

I have yet to see that we made a big jump in NIL money. If we did, why is the PG we signed up an ordinary offensive player from McNeese State who averaged 8 ppg last year? And why are we unable to land a reasonably good center? Know why? We don’t have the money. We’re cutting corners and trying to piece together a competitive roster with limited resources. The NIL playing field has become more expensive, and it will continue to do so every year.
If you don't believe we have had a big jump in NIL this year, you are wrong. We have. Now, if you want to argue that it isn't enough, whatever your definition of enough is, fine. But we have a lot more money this year. You seem preoccupied with Duel's ppg. It's his defense and his passing that the coaches love. As for the bigs, Waters has a podcast just out that discusses the big situation.

Gerry has between 10 and 12 million. Hodgson wouldn't have had near that. Plus, Hodgson didn't feel wanted at Syracuse like he did at P.C.. Perhaps he would have been betters erved not talking to a Hall of Fame coach

Hodgson isn’t setting the world on fire right now at all. I’m thinking he spent a lot on the G league guy. The names at guard and forward they had for visits yesterday would spark a mini meltdown if those were on our target list. Let’s just say Mayes and Folefac are way more exciting than who they are looking at as depth pieces.

There of course is still time and some big names they are linked to but some of those names now have others listed as the favorite..

How many great additions did BH add so far? He’s got a roster with 3 guys on it and PC isn’t leading for anymore big names instead looking at guys like the undersized PG from NW . You always just come here to doom cast complain and then dissapear. It’s like clockwork.
Well, they signed Boyd who was generally regarded as one of the top 3 points available. Certainly better than Dual.

Right and I didn’t discount that. Byrd was great the G league guy is good too. Hightower is a surprise meh. They are going for some big fish too. Depth is going to be a challenge considering how fast he likes to play. They will end up with a solid starting group but you need 9-10 guys to play that style and not just fillers.

Not sold on Byrd. Decent player, but Tobiason I think is better. Jury is out on him vs Dual.

This is where rankings aren’t trust worthy too. Hes a top PG and yet had a TS of 52 pct, an assist rate of 16.8 and a PER of 16.8.

Dual was 54 pct, 17.4 and 28 pct with a similar 3pt pct.

I know you were comparing AT but when you compare Dual who is similar in defense first doesn’t help Byrds case either.

All you are doing is playing straw man and pushing an invalidated personal assumption as being fact. Making assertions and claims then demanding others correct you when you haven’t offered a single bit of objectivity to your assertions. Why should we bother prove you wrong on the current roster when the only thing you have to offer is someone’s take on Mccallisters board?

It’s one thing to be pessimistic but another to be assertive without getting into the real numbers and evidence to support your assertions and then try and pick apart rebuttals that have more effort than your doom casting.
If we have more money, when are we going to start spending it? My guess is we’ve spent about $7 million on 7 players. That probably leaves about $3 million for 4-5 players. That isn’t going to get you a higher end center or pony guard. It’ll get you a few marginal centers, a backup PG and a backup PF.

Please respond while I put on my orange colored glasse. I’ve always known they’re required here.

Like, I get and actually share alot of the general unease and jadedness of the fanbase. Big picture we're in a precarious spot. But I swear to god the WELL LOOK WHAT HAPPENED UNDER RED AND ONE WEEK INTO THE PORTAL I DONT SEE A BIG NAME AND SO GERRY = RED BECAUSE BOTH WERE BOEHEIM ASSISTANTS BUT NOW GERRY IS EVEN WORSE BECAUSE AT LEAST RED GOT STARLING uniformed kneejerk logic is already super tiresome. Such is the nature of sports fans and sports message boards I suppose, but good god some of you are ridiculous

I doubt we’ve spent 7 million. We only spent 1.5-1.6 on Doty and white combined. I have very good sources on one and credit to Dasher for the other. Goodrick isn’t getting a lot. Kiyan is mainly funded through his own brand. That leaves Tobiason, Euro, and Dual. We are not paying all 3 1.5 million and your number is off. We are probably closer to 5 left than 3 left.

How much money do we have? Everyone is saying we have more but no one has a clue how much. I heard we had about $7-8 million last year. This year I’ve heard $9-10 million. With NIL inflation, that’s about the same as last year. We can all hope that Dual elevates his offensive game, White adds 20 pounds and becomes better offensively, Anthony adds muscle and toughness, and the wings come as advertised.

All wishful thinking.

If so, we should be able to get a very good center and a quality backup PG.

Let’s see if that happens.

I suspect it’ll be the opposite. Decent centers are ridiculously expensive. PGs not at much. So it would make more impact relative to cost for GMac to go out a get an Alex Wilkins or the like, and settle for a diamond in the rough or a euro guy for C. Just my thoughts tho.

He, I and a few others have repeated it a few times. I think Dasher even said it in this thread and Lobdell mentioned it yesterday. It’s north of your assumption. How much is up for debate.

Dude you’re all over the place. The players you’re describing and saying you expected in orange this year form the 1-5 would be giving Michigans natty team this year a run.

We aren’t there and no one said we would be this year. What we can do is compete in the top 3rd of the ACC and make the tourney easily.

I believe the $10m that people have mentioned is just booster-produced NIL and does not include SU-funded revenue share. So assuming 15% still and that we aren't overextended on football, you can add $3m. Total budget of $12-13m. Last year was closer to $8m total. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The players we have signed so far are not taking us to the top of the ACC. NIL is still an issue for sure. No reason to believe otherwise yet.

People are stuck being enamored with names they know and seeing Louisville spend 17 million plus. If we were looking at Clemson’s roster right now they had going into last year it would be a total meltdown of epic proportions. They won 24 games this year before losing to Iowa in the NCAAs.

Just something else to add but I feel like we need a power point pinned that explains how NIL deals work and that explains it’s not the same as Rev Share. It’s not a war chest you just cut a check from. They are called deals for a reason…

There aren’t many, or any available. Give me 2 game changing centers that are available in the transfer portal. Anyone you name will have someone else on this board with complaints
about them.

Ah ok of course.. that explains a lot. To each their own. That person is entitled to their opinion and I’ll leave it at that given that’s a pay board. It explains your take given I know exactly who you reference.

For the record saying it’s the least talented in decades is laughable. The Gerry decision infuriated some and enthralled others. Objectivity has abandoned a lot of folks in favor of the emotions over not pulling an outside hire. Once again BH is doing far worse building his team so far at the same point in the off season to date.

Well, we need 3 or 4 more guys, 2 or 3 of whom need to be starting quality.
We don't have a functional roster yet, but I'm sure we're not done.
