transfers from other big schools - when do they work?

I don't know where to get the numbers but there are lots of FCS guys in the nfl but not many that transfer up to FBS

8% of the guys at the combine were FCS.

maybe the fcs guys are approached but don't want to lose a year. i'd like to think 2 years here is better than 3 years at maine or whatever

i'd love to see some school roll the dice on that. not neccessarily us though.
wouldnt a FCS have to sit out a year coming up??

another thing is i think at the FCS level, most scouts can tell if you have 'it' or not.

off the top of my head, theres 2 great case studies in the NFL for FCS success.

1. romo, stayed through his Sr year
2. flacco, we all know the deal

if youre killing it at delaware...where you going to go?? a mac? a mtn west? an aac? why bother?? and i dont think the big boys are dipping there for talent.

its really got to be a once (or twice if youre Syracuse) in a lifetime shot.

1 where a BCS program Fs up so bad, that they dont have anyone worth a damn to start the year after a long termer goes.

and my boy joe fields only threw about 20 passes in 04 if i recall...

Oh Lord

how the hell can i find upperdecks thingamabob again??

Russell Wilson actually played at NCS - new coach just wanted to start an underclassmen. Coaches want to win now and hard to blame them for that but it can be very short sighted.
Not to be picky but I am pretty sure the coaches told him if he played baseball in the summer instead of attending Spring ball he wasn't going to be the starter at qb. Long story short he played baseball instead and transferred after that which we all obviously know.

You're pretty much going to have a laundry list of transfers out if you consider all the guys that left as a result of Marrone.

I thought the two Hostra transfers, Weaver and Cruz, turned out pretty good. Both were starters and Weaver looked pretty good (granted he only played 2 games) until he got hurt.

Yeah, I kinda half-assed the list of departures. Marrone cleared a lot of space on the roster that first year.

if we had russell, i'd let him play baseball all spring summer, weekdays in the fall, and he could take batting practice at halftime

I would add Howie Long from Nova to your list.

As for upperdeck's DB, go to the dropdown menu (upper left at the top of the FB board) or use this link:

I think we are quick to judgement on two of the current transfers. As has been said - Funderburk was expected to come in and be the savior. Clearly he is not a finished product, but is only a sophomore. Raymon is already in the DL rotation and is only a sophomore as well.

Those two in particular I have a good feeling about - don't think they're going to be 1st round picks, but I think they'll help the team win some games.
