Tre Allison Transfers to Kilgore JC (TX)

I think it is. The depth is pretty good and we'll assuredly bring in a couple of more this year.

Cantin FR

To each there own, but I respectfully disagree as it relates to performance this year on the field (I'm not as worried about future years). Presently, the LB position is arguably our weakest position on the team. We lost a lot of experience here and are an injury or two away from counting on some very very inexperienced players this year. It by no means is the end of the world, and maybe Tre wasn't going to see the field anyway, I dont know, but I'd rather have as many options and players who have been in the system as possible given the inexperience we have coming into the season at this position. JMO.

Dino has talked about needing high numbers of linebackers over other positions because they are needed on special teams. This is now 4 linebackers that are gone. Fagan, Walton, Cullen, and now Allison. I don't know if Allison would have been on the 2 deep on defense, but I would bet he probably would have played special teams. So hopefully they won't have to burn redshirts of the 3 freshmen just to play special teams, ala Alan Stritzinger 2 years ago

There have been some good players but a lot of guys who never helped a bit. The success rate is really low. A bunch never even enrolled here.

Here are a few I haven't seen mentioned yet.

Alton Robinson
Coda Martin
Mark McDonald
Eric Chenoweth
Drew Allen
Malcolm Howard
Charlie Copa
Dorian Hewitt

Dorian Hewitt is at USC :) He decommitted.

Not a ton of players have done much here from texas

Chestnut
Chenoweth
Rodney Johnson
Charles Burton

Mark mcDonald
Doug Womack
Drew Allen

Aaron Lewis
Xavier Gaines

North Carolina is a much easier sell than Texas. The biggest reason being that we play games in NC every year

Id add that culturally ny and texas are very different culturally

Basketball has done pretty well with the few Texans they have recruited here. Luke Jackson, Jeremy McNeil, Wes Johnson - all I could think of.

I would have died for Doug Womack or mark McDonald during G rob years.

Didn’t we have a big safety from Texas - Burton?

Yeah, they're young, but there are a lot of talented guys in that group.

I asked the question before, but now I am seriously wondering if Cantin Arku gets some play at linebacker this year

And Lax.
D Brandon Mullins (Coppell, Texas) was an AA talent and 3-year starter.
One of our best players, period, this decade.
But, your point is hardly invalid.

I just don't think you can point a finger and say that kids from Texas won't make it at SU. Just looking at all the teams and players on them we have kids from all over the US, Canada, Europe and Africa. Some kids make the adjustment and have the maturity for college, some don't no matter where they come from or how far away. There have been kids that haven't done well from NY.

Naesean Howard says hi.

Talked to a connected SMU fan...he checked in with his connection and SMU will definitely make a pitch for him to transfer there. Maybe the leader in the clubhouse?

Yes, mentioned some never enrolled. We are spending a lot of money down there and not getting much in the way of a return yet...
