Trill Williams: WWE

Oh man he has got to be known as the Trillionaire or the Thrillionaire if he becomes a professional wrestler

Yep. He signed with WWE. Here's the article from the Wrestling Observer:

"Atrilleon “Trill” Williams, 24, who played defensive back at Syracuse and played five games for the Miami Dolphins in 2021, was signed. He was shown in a backstage skit on NXT television this past week. Williams is from Yonkers, NY, and was the White Plains area player of the year as a high school senior. He played 2018 to 2020 at Syracuse. After the first five games of his junior year, he left the team and declared himself for the NFL draft. He wasn’t drafted. He signed with the New Orleans Saints prior to the 2021 season but failed his physical and was cut. He then went to the Dolphins and was activated late in the season but only played in the final game of the season. He suffered a torn ACL in camp prior to the 2022 season so was out for the year. He was a late cut prior to the 2023 season and this past year did a WWE tryout."

So it definitely seems we have some kind of connection to wrestling. Anyone know how that works?
They really emphasized signing college athletes with NIL in the last few years. They’ve gone away from signing indie wrestling talent in favor of top flight athletes they can mold at their NXT performance center in Florida. Definitely not just us, they have signed multiple kids from several college programs to developmental deals. Many don’t make it six months though.

That's super interesting, thanks.

I'm an occasional wrestling fan. Josh Black I think could definitely make it. He's got great size and agility. Has to learn the finer points of wrestling and probably some talking skills (true for most of these signers).

Good for him. I on and off follow wrestling, mostly WWE, and am pretty familiar with the business overall even though I may not always be caught up with the active storylines or roster.

Good for Trill. Most of these wrestlers are incredible athletes, but there's a LOT more to it than that. I will be following this journey.

I feel Syracuse has had more than its fair share of former football players compared to other schools.

Quinn Ojinnaka (TNA) has done well as "Moose" in TNA, but has never made it to one of the two big league promotions.

Omari Palmer (aka Odyssey Jones), was on a good career path in WWE... until getting released for what appears some not so flattering issues.

Now this kid.
