Assuming there is fire here, they can't dodge it. The prior case rested on morals clauses etc., but if I recall, the stature and independence of the team physician is spelled out explicitly in the NCAA by-laws.
If it smells like azzhole, it’s most likely Franklin. He’s the king of the cinnamon rings.
this metaphor has effectively ruined my favorite pastry. If it smells like azzhole, it’s most likely Franklin. He’s the king of the cinnamon rings.
How's this - Franklin is the Burning Hoop of azzhole's. Better?this metaphor has effectively ruined my favorite pastry.
If "cinnamon rings" is a thing nowadays, I guess I've led a sheltered life. If you came up with it, Kudos! If it smells like azzhole, it’s most likely Franklin. He’s the king of the cinnamon rings.
Not really. But it is interesting to note that the damages sought figure is a fairly low amount ($50,000) and he has not brought specific situations to light (at least not yet). The low amount suggests he isn't looking for a smaller counter-offer to just make this go away. An attorney taking this case for such a small award suggests there is more (potentially) to this story, or it could be just for the notoriety. He is casting a wide net and maybe he is hoping some will turn on each other. Plaintiffs include the Department Head, Hershey Medical Center, Penn State Health (my employer), Franklin and others based in State College.SU in Hershey Any insight?
And also to raise tuition on one of the highest in-state education costs in the country! (I think we are in the top 3).I for one can not wait for Ped State to again use my tax dollars to clean up coaches messes. *rollseyes*
Sandusky lawsuits didn’t threaten it and this won’t either. They have 20 plus feeder schools, Ped St Dickinson School of Law, main campus, and 100k fans that will pump money into this foul beast each week they have a home game.Don't care about NCAA. This could lay the groundwork for lawsuits by former players who may have sustained career-ending/life-long injuries because Franklin and co. leaned on the doctor. An enterprising lawyer could class action these -ers. Institutional policing is hopeless, NCAA policing is hopeless, but bleed them dry financially and the state might step in and threaten PSU's budget.
“...long before it poses a reputations risk to anyone at Penn State.”Unpacking ex-Penn St. doctor's lawsuit vs. Franklin, school
The most likely outcome? Lynch’s case settles long before it poses a reputational risk to anyone at Penn State. Sometimes, though, cases last longer than expected. We’ll be covering it.
It sounds like they did to Dr. Lynch what a large number of people on this board wanted to do to Dr. Tucker. Our football program is in very good hands.
Nah. Suggesting the qualifications of a general practitioner do not match that of multiple specialists is not the same as this case.Damn, beat me to it!
Premier athletes didn’t care when staff was raping children and they won’t care about this. We still lose recruits to them. It’s mind boggling.
And that he should probably go practice medicine in another state. He has probably messed himself in PA.Unpacking ex-Penn St. doctor's lawsuit vs. Franklin, school

That made me think of this, and gave me an opportunity to inject a little levity into the thread...Penn st could line up and execute players that don’t live up to their star ratings and still get 9 out of 10 recruits we both want.
I use that one often. My all-time favorite sports quote alongside Jim Lampley's when the "Fan Man" interrupted the Bowe-Holyfield fight. "We've seen stranger things, but none stranger than this!"That made me think of this, and gave me an opportunity to inject a little levity into the thread...
