No surprise that this has become political, can't we all just concentrate on the college football aspect of this without inserting our political opinions?

We have all sorts of different posters and lurkers on her, what unites us is SUFB.
This board can’t help itself. They will turn anything and everything into a political pissing match.

As I previously stated THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL POST!! This post was supposed to be about 3rd party payments and college athletics!! Insane how fast it went politically charged because it says Trump in the headline!

The party of "freedom" sure seems to be dipping their tips into a lot of stuff that has nothing to do with them. So we uhhh we like big central government now huh?
Well NCAA sure doesnt know what their doing.

The title of the thread was in fact political. We have an entire thread dedicated to this topic already. I think it's actually fine to keep it and debate it but I find it funny the folks accusing one side of being political are the first to claim they don't want to talk about politics or to keep it focused on football.

The reality is an EO isn't going to really address this issue because it's been litigated in courts. And that has zero to do with the person whose name is signing the EO. You shouldn't be using EOs to create laws. EOs are glorified PR stunts. I'd say it would be stupid for a president of any party to get in the middle of this because they're simply trying to score political points.

The topic is going to keep on being litigated most likely unless there's a solution in Congress that passes muster. And if we look at any other sports leagues as guides, the end result is collective bargaining in exchange for some kind of pay cap. Without it, I find it hard to believe it'll last but who knows.

The real issue is the top programs in college football don't want pay caps because they want to be able to outspend others. It took them all of a week to complain about the clearinghouse.

I get it but some on here just can’t help themselves. I guess I am older as I remember when people kept political thoughts to themselves.

All of this.

As I said in my first post about this EO... it does nothing. Absolutely nothing. It directs people to look into things.

It's grandstanding and has zero impact on anything about college athletics.

*edit* And you're last point is the salient one. No one should believe these schools crying "please Congress, please Mr. President, help us!". The power players want no rules and to engage in unfettered spending.

I long for the days when people who want to take our country backwards kept their thoughts to themselves.
I remember when this forum was about Syracuse Football. Bye

Good job, everyone. Super good job.
