Tulane's new stadium

That is not true at all. When there at the stadium you get to see a great many things that you don't see on TV. Pass routes, open receivers, blown coverage, blocks away from the camera, etc. On TV you only see what they want you to see and nothing else. If the color guys thinks it is important you might get an iso or something but otherwise you miss it all. There is a reason the OC and DC sit in the booth.

I rwatch all SU games stopping and rewinding and I still don't get the feeol for the game I get when at the Dome (which has great sight lines).

Kills me to watch on TV. The only thing better at home is the traffic and the men's room.

It's the viewing experience and the entire simplicity of it all. Sit on couch, heat on, beer ten feet away, ability to change the channel during timeouts. All of that. "Viewing experience" doesn't just mean staring at what is happening on the field. It's all of it. I 100% stand by my statement.
Whether you want to admit it or not, to people who are on the fence anyway about going to see a bad team, these all apply. That's assuming they even bother to WATCH the game (which I can assure you, some of my friends in the area don't even do this).

And we're talking about the casual fan. You think they sit back and analyze if the wideout ran a post or seam route? Or which linebacker blitzed the A gap? Or why the miscommunication down field between the safeties happened? No. You know why? Because they are casual fans. We do those things you mention, and we are the ones in the seats at the dome.

The ticket prices in that place are completely out of whack...a guy paying premium can hit a beach ball to a guy playing far, far, far less with the same view. Fix that and fix the product on the field. Decent product gets your 40k plus.
We all agree with that...but the Dome needs a refurbishment to help with that. They need to install premium seating, A/C, a real restaurant versus cook n chill, electronic amenities in the premium seating, etc...

Baylor - 45K (Waco), TCU - 45K (Ft. Worth), BC - 45K (Boston), Duke 34K (Raleigh-Durham) , Wake 32K (Raleigh-Durham), Stanford 50K(Bay Area), Northwestern - 47K(Chicago), Vanderbilt - 40K (Nashville)

Syracuse - 49K

Other than Waco all of those cities, let alone the surrounding areas, are much bigger. SU should certainty look at right sizing.

I was, of course, speaking for myself. I realize care others have different tastes. But for getting the most out of a game there is nothing like being there for me.

That is your opinion...but explain the over 500k people that sit in the Dome each season? So basically you poo-poo everything as a waste of money, have no solutions and don't come to games...
You are being foolish. Lots of people go to games despite the inflatable roof. No one stays home because of it. I buy season tickets and give them away because we have an infant and have had other obligations this year.

I don't poo poo every idea just your poo poo ideas

I like this line from the article:

"Rather, the atmosphere at home football games inside the Superdome, Tulane’s home from 1975 to 2013, had come to resemble something more like the inside of a megachurch led by a disgraced preacher."

Can't fix that without upsetting the bees of the world who spend all game wondering stewing over someone else getting a better deal than the one he gladly signed up for

stanford might need to right size some more. Always empty seats there

An inflatable roof that needs to be replaced soon, requires 24/7 attention and is susceptible to the elements. A Dome, while structurally sound, that is sorely lacking in amenities and modern design inputs. You and I are talking on different levels.

I wasn't saying don't ever replace the roof if the old one doesn't work. I am saying don't replace the roof hoping modern design inputs will increase attendance.
