Tulsa 23 - Uconn 19 and Wyoming

Who did Wyoming just Over?

Ole Miss? Texas? BYU? Temple? Boise St? Purdue? They are all very close.

That group seemed to have just a bit of separation to UCLA, Miami, Texas AM if you beleived the bracket Matrix. So the next team to deop will be interesting. I am thinking it will be either Ole Miss or Texas.
what about indiana?

storz is the Jason Voorhees of college hoops

Oh, I'll celebrate but I won't pretend we were the best team. I'm not joking when I say the NCAA Tournament is a joke. I love watching it from a casual fan standpoint, hate it as a means to crowning a Champion.

So what exactly would you propose to replace it? Something like the CFP?

It will never happen because the NCAAT is second only to the Super Bowl for biggest sporting evet in America but yea, I'd rather have an 8 team payoff with 5 game series, kind of like a mini NBA playoff.

Fake champion LOL.
How many fake championships does UNC and Duke have , they have easy locations every year. MSU should have an asterisk next to their name with your criteria. We win that game anywhere else. How many times has it worked the other way? Vermont and UMass in Worcester? But Boston is a home game? Lots of flawed logic there.

You and I are on the same side.

We weren't a dominant team, we certainly caught a break playing in Boston and Albany. Fake champion if you ask me.
And I'm sure UCONN playing in Buffalo and MSG wasn't an advantage either...

what about indiana?

I have Indiana just above my last 4 in.. but we are talking minimal margins.

Here is why I like Indiana above the others:

8-12 top 100 record
4 top 50 wins
Only 1 bad loss

Underwhelming, but many of the bottom of the field teams have 3 and 4 bad losses. I think this is where Texas and Indiana may rise from the rest of the field.

Ole Miss
9-8 top 1oo record (really good)
3 top 5o wins
4 bad losses

To be honest I may re-evaluate the two today because if you simply add the bad losses to the top 100 records, it is 8-13 vs 9-12. I may have been harsh on bad losses, but I was looking for something to separate the teams.

I also removed BYU who most have in:

4-6 top 100 record
1 top 50 win (really elite thought - AT Gonzaga)
3 bad losses

The Gonzaga win on the road is special, but the rest is just not enough.

Wyoming coming in (and possibly UConn) created some mystery. There was no one pushing up on Friday (except maybe Tulsa), so the field seemed set. Now we have to take one or 2 of the garbage out.

JHC Do I have to spell it out? Can no one follow the conversation?

I was trying to apply LIs logic that in order to be a legit champion, you have to have a dominant team a la UK and UVA This year. Granted we were very very good in 2003, but we didn't have the wire to wire dominance those teams did.

And yeah, we caught some breaks. So does just about every other team that makes a big run. It doesnt invalidate the team that wins it all.

Just going to point out that there's a difference between 4 Syracuse vs 1 MSU in Auburn Hills and 3 Syracuse vs 1 OU in Albany.

Fortunately it's a moot point...we'd have beaten the sooners anywhere.

So no title in 03.
