One of Calipari’s top targets is 6’11 center Nerlens Noel. Noel is considered the top center in the class and is a prolific shot blocker. He’s not the tall gangly center that Hasheem Thabeet was at Connecticut, but is a strong, athletic player who will develop nicely in Calipari’s offense. He gets up and down the court well and handles the fast break well, capable of finishing. He will need to improve on his scoring in the post, but he’s great at finding his teammates and is an exceptional passer. This reminds me of seeing TRob in a summer league game near Lemoyne just before the Fab Four's frosh season. He hit about 75% of his 3s while warming up. I'm thinking 'this guy could be Starmelo lite'. Alas, TRob went on to make about 3 3s in his SU career.

Nice article, this kid has a wealth of talent, that has never been the question. His head seems to be in the right place now and his unselfish play is allowing this team to function as it should.

I wrote this preseason, hopefully he continues being a team player.

Mayor Bing seems to have put his head in the lion's mouth financially. (Too bad the Lions were so toothless against Green Bay.) Being a big city mayor these days has to be one of the toughest jobs, with the tax base eroding out from under them.
