TruTV will carry the semifinals of the NCAA Final Four in April. So will TNT. TBS, too.

In an unprecedented move, Turner Sports and CBS will produce three different telecasts for each of the two national semifinal games, each with its own set of announcers. The traditional national telecast will run on TBS, while TNT and truTV will carry the same games at the same time with announcers and camera angles customized to each specific team.

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else believe they're over-thinking this?

Big time. I loved it when they moved games to TNT, TBS and TruTv. More games to watch and you are not stuck watching one game. This is a little overboard however.

The article says they will be providing 'more school-focused' broadcasts. I hope that means more features on my school, and not homer announcers. I want my tournament game announcers to be neutral. But that's just me.

The way I read the article its more homer announcers. Could be wrong though

It sounds like the news presented by Fox, MSNBC and CNN. CNN of course would be bland and colorless.
Fox and MSNBC would have the homer announcers wearing rose-colored glasses whose Coke cups would either be half full or half empty. Now, since we are all incredibly biased for our team, it might be "fun" to tune in to such a telecast, but then would we mainly be getting color commentary such as "That was not a foul! That was NOT a foul!" ?

But I may be getting a tad ahead of myself, since I am not even sure we're going to play all that well against St. Francis tonight.

This idea sounds fantastic.

I know they do something like this with English soccer teams, except the 'announcers' are flat out fans of each team and live and die with each play just like the most fanatical of us here on this board do.

So you're telling me we could have had a broadcast with 2 announcers going as crazy as I was about Triche's 'charge' last year? Sign me up.
