Battery! lmao!
His previous incident, which cost him an entire spring and no doubt hampered his development - especially painful since it turns out we needed him sooner than later - should have been that call.
There was a whole thread where people wanted him suspended for another game because "we are Syracuse and should hold him to a higher standard". Thread with some of the rants are below...from our own "fans.

"He committed Battery"
He needs to do community hours
He needs to apologize to the opposing team and players for his actions
He need to write an apology letter to the opposing team and player he hit
Suspend him for the first series against CMU
Suspend him for the whole game against CMU
etc., etc.

Hey @Cuse fans, sorry I let us all down vs. Nova. Thankful my teammates took care of business. Talked to @Coach_Shafer. Good to go at CMU.
Good post OPHK - especially the bolded part above.
Although I have not seen it mentioned specifically, I wonder if Hunt's previous shoplifting incident at Carousel fueled some of the emotional reactions from the fans? Gaining maturity is nearly a life long process for many of us. And few of us have had to do it in a fish bowl.
Like you said, time to move on and hope it has made Hunt a stronger leader.
what is that about? It's the first I've heard of Hunt shoplifting at Carousel, I remember Michael Carter Williams getting nabbed but not Hunt.
I don't think [to CIL's point above] that it has anything to do with the current reaction, but two years ago Hunt was caught shoplifting cologne at Carousel during the offseason. Marrone suspended Hunt from spring practice. He was allowed to return to the team in the fall of 2012, but lost out on the benefit of whatever development he might have gotten that spring.
By all accounts, Hunt is a good kid and a good student. The shoplifting incident seems like an anamoly.
So basically you've taken one thread started by the same poster, and reiterated off the wall stuff posted by that one poster (the bolded items) as if it's coming from some significant number of fans.
There were people (myself included, and I still feel that way) that felt he should be suspended for additional time (series, quarters, games, etc) because it was discipline coming from the STAFF and not from referees. But there's a big difference between him missing game time for doing something not in line with the program's expectations of its players (which is common at pretty much every single Football school out there) and your bolded items above which were plucked from a series of posts by one poster. One person brought up the concept of battery, not FANS plural.
But nice try. Love the effort.
Moontan said:I was one of those that started a thread on the matter. I'm still of the opinion that he should sit for the first quarter of the CMU game. That's how it would be if it were my program. I could also see just holding him out for the first series. Anything to reinforce that punching is not acceptable on SU's team. That said, it's not my program and I'll accept HCSS' decision. Go Orange!
A message from the referees/rules, not from the coach.I think sitting out the second half against Nova sent home a message.
Yup.Time to move on.
"Beat the Chippewas!" How depressing that this is our warcry.A message from the referees/rules, not from the coach.
Yup.
Beat the Chippewas!
