Its going to snow in Syracuse in the winter and as a follower of the entire head coaching career of one James Arthur Boeheim no matter where i have followed the games from whether it be Wiertheim Germany or Brandon South Dakota or Ft Sill Oklahoma or right here in lovely Upstate NY, in any game that matters he will play only 7 guys. he might possibly play an 8th if someone is in deep foul trouble or he wants to pull someone aside to pontificate to them about there play for like two minutes before they go back in.

You can talk and think it over until you are blue or green or red in the face it will not change.. The team can play zone or man to man . or score 80 points a game or 50 . This year he didnt have creampuffs to fine tune his lineup and they had to miss and stop practicing for times because of covid. Rest assured if the next game comes around and he doesnt need Jesse Edwards he will not play. If you dont believe that ill give you 35 years of history in pictures in three of the national championship games spanning 35 years.

The first boxscore is from the first national championship game against Indiana look at the minutes played and how many people played. The second image is the boxscore is from the next final four in 1996 , once again look at the minutes and the amount or people playing. Third picture is from the 2013 final four game against Michigan, once again look at the minutes and how many people played.

No matter the style of play or what type of defense they play doesnt matter that Indiana game one of the great scorers in team history Stevie Thompson didnt even score and that team ran up and down the court and fast breaked almost constantly. The game against Michigan they didn't even score 60 points and played like turtles .

The one constant is 7 guys play and guys get 35-38 minutes a game.

Now you may not think Buddy deserves 40 minutes a game or Marek should play 38 minutes or whatever. But history and Jim Boeheim is going to prove you wrong over and over again. Once he finds what he thinks his best lineup is for that season and an important that game i flat out guarantee what he views as his best players will play 35-40 minutes in that game period.

Just as a sidelight i gave you the Indiana boxscore from that game . look at the times of bobby Knights starters.

I looked at the IU box score. After the first 7, one guy played 4 minutes , another played 1. That’s a differentiator for you? As you will recall, Rodney Walker left that team in the 2nd semester. He would have played in that game. Other than Thompson and Brower, who would you have played?

I guess I would like you to find me all of the one-dimensional (maybe 1.33 dimensional) marksmen playing 40 minutes a game in those lineups.

Marek makes sense - Marek can do various basketball related things. He could play 40 on those teams, well, he couldn't, but he can do enough things where you could make some sort of crazy case.

If the rosters ain't the same, can't treat them as such for the simple ease it provides when it comes to justify rotations.

Here's the box score from the 2003 NC

And the 2003 final four game

Its almost as if when there is talent, JB plays the non-starters

It's true. But the question is, what should he do when the starters aren't that talented or you simply don't have the size/talent at specific positions?

Play zone, and slow it down. It’s like you don’t even watch the games. :)

You would not ever pull some of those players off the court under any circumstances cuz they
were so talented. Do I want the 1987 DC, Sherm, or Seikaly on the bench? No. Do I want
Wallace or Melo on the bench? No. Certainly not to put Reafsnyder out there, except for a quick
rest. You play guys with talent when the guys ahead of them are stinking up the joint. It's
easy to look at, Buddy may be God's gift to hoops, but when he's 1-12, get off the court. When
AG has 6 TOs, off. When Girard tries to go behind his back, trips, falls, and turns it over, off
you go. Conversely, you ride guys who are on. That's easy. But it seems like, playerA is on the
court, and can do no wrong, despite the fact he's playing like garbage. And playerB gets on the
court, does a fraction of what playerA is doing, and his azz is on the bench for the rest of the
game. Note: playerA does not refer to Buddy, playerB does not refer to Kadary; there are a
multitude of players they can refer to over the 45 year coaching career of JB. It's just a little
more obvious this year. I challenge you to find any SU player who had the leash to go 8-24
from the field, and then during the post game, have said players misses referred to as "it
was good for our offense, cuz we got the rebounds and scored a few times."

this is simply not true. Unless you think mcw didn’t have talent his freshman year.

MCW averaged just over 10 minutes per game. He also had established guards Scoop, Dion and Triche ahead of him. His sophomore year he averaged just over 35 mpg.
Sherm averaged just over 11 mpg his freshman year but he had a pretty good pg ahead of him too.
JB had some pretty good choices and played who he thoughtwas the best talent at those times.

thats different then. I don’t disagree that Jim plays who he feels was the best talent.
The comment was if he has the talent, he plays non starters.
i feel that’s not true

Maybe I misinterpreted your post.

2.) I‘m going to be disappointed.
