Tyler Ennis released by Los Angeles Lakers

To both of you - I apologize that this got out of hand.

a. First Rounders should have a better chance at getting decent deals. MCW and Ennis are more than likely both disappointed to at least an extent in their deals? Right? Fair? Ennis literally has the worst deal that anyone in the NBA can get. its a 1 year vet minimum with a TEAM OPTION (thats really the kicker). But I would rather have that deal than my job - (I actually just got a promotion too heyyyoooo)
b. The pension is outstanding! but it doesnt kick in until way later in life. I get that it is really hard for you and I to understand the financial difficulties that 25 yr olds who have made 10-20 million face - but it is a reality when you go from making $ millions per year to far less than that. If you buy a house and a couple cars, its a huge adjustment when the money stops flowing in unless they meticulously planned. Trust me, I did not understand it either.

And Thats it. I am happy that Ennis is still in the league. I hope he is able to sign a nice deal in 2 years and I will be rooting for him as I do all Syracuse players - especially ones that hit 35 footers at the Zoo.

I honestly don't agree or disagree with you, the argument can and has been made in both directions, just emphasizing the fact that it's largely a crap shoot unless you're in the top half of the league - so many different factors at play each year.

By the way, congrats on the promotion, man - I'm sure we can all agree that's never a bad thing for us plebs.

Tyler and Mal it's way too early. As long as Tyler can spread the court, with his size, he'll probably be around for a while.

Def too early to tell. Even for CM. Just saying, if i were a betting man, i would not be betting that they get 4 year deals after their rookie contracts. And they may not even get the entire rookie deal *not out of the league, but 1 of the team options not picked up a la Ennis' final team option*

And Dion just signed a 4 year 52 mil deal...

That doesnt change the fact that they both signed 1 year deals after the rookie contracts were up.
who cares? Success is defined by the entire body of work.

Why do you think I am calling their careers unsuccessful? I AM NOT CALLING THEIR CAREERS UNSUCCESSFUL. not even Tyler Ennis.

And they are coming in the league at the perfect time. If they are just productive bench players they will be set for life.

I was hoping Ennis would have played himself into getting a better opportunity and/or more money. However, I think he was right to come out when he did. I don't think his stock would have been any higher had he waited a year.

I'm a Bernie Sanders fan but I thought we were leaving politics off the board :-)

Ennis has been on 4 different teams already, for his career he is avg 4.2 ppg and 1.9 apg, his career is far from over, but as of now what would you call his Nba career so far?

Successful. Getting paid, and doesn't have to beat up his body every year. Will have a nice long career as a backup PG in the league, and make plenty of money.

Almost like a backup QB in the NFL. Smart enough to run a team when needed, get paid, and don't beat up your body so you can enjoy retirement. I think he has it pretty damn well, and has worked himself into a great spot.

He'd be a starting point guard in The League making Dion Waiters money if he stayed until this year. That's literally the only possible outcome had h waited.

He has a 1 year minimum deal with a 1 yr team option.

That literally is as bad as it gets considering still being in the NBA. There is no debating that that is the worst contract an NBA player can get. It is actually a fact.

Honest question. Have you seen or heard 1 person who in the last 12 months has said he should have stayed?

I'll assume no. Why post this?

what is the point? who cares about the time it takes to become successful?

The worst contract in the NBA is still a success to me. But, just me talking.

I don't think when Tyler was thinking about left early he was saying to himself, let me get the worst contract in the Nba.

Pretty sure he was thinking, I have to work hard to stay in the NBA. He's still there with money in the bank, and an opportunity to be there many more years. I doubt he's thinking about how he has the worst possible contract. He does have a one year option, so I'm not sure it's the worst. Maybe, I don't care.

I get where ATL is coming from. So nothing against you, ATL. Know you're just breaking it down for what it is.

Just Brian, being Brian. So, not gonna get into anymore talk in this thread. Has been difficult to read.

Congrats to Tyler. Playing for the Los Angeles damn Lakers. Soak it in, and keep putting in work.
