Tyus at the point?

when did frank pass up a fast break?
If at all, because boeheim forced the slowing down of games and the offense. I think frank/hughes/battle will be a fast break tandem this year with oshae and pc dishing the outlet

Put it differently, when did he ever push the ball in transition? Pushing the ball doesn't mean recklessly driving to the hoop - it just means get the ball up quickly and see if there's an opportunity to exploit. You don't necessarily need a numbers advantage. Dion would often run downhill and find a crease because the defense wasn't set up.

Our best SU teams get a chunk of easy points in transition. Our backcourt needs to become more opportunistic and comfortable running downhill. We don't need Derrick Coleman sweeping the boards to do this - it's mostly a mindset.

did battle push the ball? did anyone? did you ever see a big get a rebound, pivot, and look down court for a fast break pass? the mindset, set by the coach, was to slow the game down and minimize possessions by both teams.

Please, let's not. I can't take this argument again. Clearly coach wants the ball controlled, fans here want Frank to push. And they blame Frank when he follows the coaches directions...

my bad. I apologize.

How about Marek setting the high ball screen and not PC?
How about a healthy Sidibe?

As for the original topic, what’s your definition of more time as a point guard? He didn’t bring the ball up the court (and he won’t) but he had the ball in his hands plenty in the offensive zone. Could he improve his playmaking skills and get more teammates involved? Absolutely! But at times he was forced to create the offense on his own. Maybe if we have some more shooters this year or Sidibe becomes a bigger threat downlow when Battle drives, he’ll look more capable of playing point at the next level.

If this is JB’s doing, it seems illogical. We’re batting 500 ball in the ACC relying on halfcourt offense to score all of our points. What is the harm in pushing the ball and seeing if an opportunity presents itself? If nothing is there you pull out.

We intentionally slowed the game down last year because we had 6 guys and our bigs couldn’t finish down low. We would of won less games than we did. It was the correct strategy for last year.

Zero point zero chance.

Not on a team where there are at least 2-3 other guys who can probably run point better than Tyus.

Dion did plenty of playmaking from the 2G spot - so can Tyus.
Oshae will play as a point before Tyus

Not a lot but there were absolutely times he did. Both for a battle three or a layup attempt.

But yes the strategy wasn't to fastbreak because that's literally the opposite of slowly the game down.
