I’m very confident UB would beat the brakes off us if we played them this year. Jarret Patterson would put up at least 3 TDs and 200+. They just dismantled our boy over at Kent state. Unreal. Pandemic year or not, that should never be an idea that passes through my brain. So, I guess, my question is how is UB finding this kind of success and we can’t? Now I understand that there is a HUGE difference between the MAC and the ACC but UB is averaging what? 45 a game? I’m fairly confident they would be top 3 in our league this year. They seem to be able to string together adequate offensive talent. I live in Buffalo. I’ve been to their campus. I’ve seen their stadium. They have less local support than we do by a wide margin. Still they seem to have had a lot more success recently. Is their coaching that much better than ours? Or is ours just that bad?

They have a good coach with a good system. He’s had success every place he’s been.

I would imagine he’s not in Buffalo much longer.

So on average they’d maybe beat us, what...once every five years? Once every ten?

I don’t see the point. Who cares?

they probably would have beat us last year and they would beat us this year. So.. at the very least, they were way more competitive than us the past 2 years.

so you mean in the league where every team scores 50 you can tell how good they are?

Maybe. But they are also in a league that knows spiking the ball on fourth down won’t get you an extra down. We ran for 4 yards yesterday and everyone is laughing at us about how we finished that last series. Get defensive if you want, but frankly, you can’t really be sticking your nose up to any comparisons to any other teams.

UB cut a bunch of sports to be able to spend more money in football, seems to be paying off the last couple years.

Also cue CousCuse appearing and calling for annual UB/SU game

They got blown out by Liberty, who we shutout.

Meh.

If you had told me way back in the day that SU hoops would lose to UB in the Dome and that SU football would very likely be an underdog to UB football (a modest underdog but a dog nonetheless), I'd have said the world had been turned upside down. Not sure if it's more a function of how much they've risen or how much we've fallen. Prolly both.

Way back in the day, SU got bounced by Navy and Richmond.

Act like we never had a loss to a program we were 10 times better then...

I probably didn't make the context clear enough. Back in the day, UB was a D-III program. It would have been inconceivable to me back then that SU could lose to them in two major sports. Those other schools u mentioned are D-1 programs.

Gotcha. I didn’t realize it was Buffalo itself you were focusing on, was just taking it more as “mid major on a hot year”.

Buffalo had a heck of a 2 year run where they absolutely dominated their conference, beat Arizona and then Arizona State in the NCAA tourney. There was no shame in losing to them that year IMO - they were legit. But that was a 2 year aberration. They’re never usually THAT good, and maybe never will be again.

Mostly Buffalo but somewhat also SU.

UB’s risen as a program, they’d compete well against regional players such as Rutgers/BC/Us/Army/Maryland/Pitt.

There’s no reason for this thread. Our program’s still decades ahead of them. We are just struggling to find consistency with a team that’s been up and down since like 2002.

The ACC resembles the B-12 in one respect this year. Apart from the heavyweights at the top, scoring (allowed) seems off the charts. There are nine teams giving up more than 30 points a game this year and probably half of those are allowing closer to 40 a game.

That sounds like all the things said about Dino lol
Eh they’re 28-15 in the past four years. I don’t think it’s crazy to just admit they’re building a winning non p5-MAC product.

Buffalo would most certainly not be top 3 in the ACC. Come on with that.

I love UB but last year they lost 3 MAC games and we beat W Mich pretty good. This years team will wax us.

I was just joking because there's always some MAC coaches that become the hot name. that everyone wants. Some go on and do well and some not as much. When did I not admit they built a good program? Im a big supporter of UB football and follow them almost as much as SU.

WMU would have won that game if Eskridge does't get hurt.

We’d win more games this yeah if cisco, trill, howard, others etc dont opt out or get hurt. Hypotheticals
