UB vs. SU

WMU would have won that game if Eskridge does't get hurt.
So we make excpetions for other teams when one player gets hurt, but not our own when 1/3 of our team does, including 2 players that will be early draft picks? Makes sense.

Whatever, If DB has 2 more years and they both end up losing seasons, not a remote possibility, then a new coach would come and likely have 2 losing seasons. That would be 6 losing seasons in a row and 10 out of the last 11 years. This is not a statistical remote permutation. Odds are too high.

So on average they’d maybe beat us, what...once every five years? Once every ten?

I don’t see the point. Who cares?
You haven’t watched Buffalo.
They would beat us more than 5 out of 10 times if these 2 teams played this year.

Their running game would gash us.
I have no confidence our offense would do anything.

Talent isn’t the main problem right now. It’s awful coaching with coaches letting the kids down.

I’m very confident UB would beat the brakes off us if we played them this year. Jarret Patterson would put up at least 3 TDs and 200+. They just dismantled our boy over at Kent state. Unreal. Pandemic year or not, that should never be an idea that passes through my brain. So, I guess, my question is how is UB finding this kind of success and we can’t? Now I understand that there is a HUGE difference between the MAC and the ACC but UB is averaging what? 45 a game? I’m fairly confident they would be top 3 in our league this year. They seem to be able to string together adequate offensive talent. I live in Buffalo. I’ve been to their campus. I’ve seen their stadium. They have less local support than we do by a wide margin. Still they seem to have had a lot more success recently. Is their coaching that much better than ours? Or is ours just that bad?
Is this serious? I find it funny that we have posters that say we are the worst, we are less than UB, Rutgers, etc...honestly I know some are trolling like Cous and Freak. Nahson you are usually pretty grounded as a fan. Surprised here. There are a number of factors that go into winning and losing seasons. I would not over think it. Sometimes coaches pan out, sometimes they don't. Sometimes you get good recruits, sometimes they aren't. Sometimes you get lucky with your QB and sometimes you don't. Success is not always a straight line. 007 has contacts that have indicated that investments are being made to be more recruiting competitive for the ACC. I trust that. Mad has indicated before that JW is really supportive of the staff providing what is being asked. The dome has been upgraded. We thought we had a winner in Dino but maybe not. We extended because the fans clamored for it. Now we need to navigate buyouts and loss of dome revenue. Some people want Dino fired no matter the cost right now and they don't care if there is a cost. That tells me that they don't understand how the money flows and works. Some people argue covid should not be an impact cuz other schools are doing fine. Some argue injuries don't matter. Some argue the coach is not coaching. When you take all of the above it shows to me that Syracuse is trying and that sometimes things are 2 steps forward and 1 step back and then 2 steps back and then 1 step forward. Dunno...my point is some people think it's simple to win all the time and there is allot that factors into actual success. My apologies for the rambling and long post.

You didn’t respond to what I wrote. I said “once every 5 YEARS? Or 10 YEARS.”

I am just super frustrated with football and basketball right now. We stuck in mud.

I think we would beat them probably 7 of 10 years: Right now Buffalo is a top of the MAC level squad. I don’t like playing good MAC teams because the talent difference isn’t large so we need to be smart.

Syracuse football needs discipline and stop hurting itself. The talent difference between top teams and us should be our biggest issue.

We screw ourselves with peer schools.

Wnat does that have to do with this conversation? I'll answer that for you, nothing. If you want to talk about hypothetical future losing seasons, why not start a thread about it?

Leipold would be a good name to watch if he wins a couple bowls and keeps this up.
