UM vs OSU

Yep. They are wayyyy over-performing this year. They were picked 7th in their conference. I unfortunately have watched almost every single game of theirs this year (OSU grad in the house. Puke). They played no one in their OCC which is why they went undefeated and got a couple calls/bounces their way against Illnois and Iowa for Ws. They should have 8 L’s this year so far. Lindell is good. The rest of the team is blah

They are 6th in KenPom. They did beat a decent UCLA in the NCSOS and have two wins against other team in the KP top 5.

They beat UCLA who is a solid tourney team at this point.

Their two closest games this year were both losses (1 point at Northwestern and 2 points vs. Purdue), so if anything they're closer to having a better record than a worse record.

We were ever close to getting to him? I know we recruited him.

No, but seeing him play today and post 20+ while battling inside with those beefy OSU guys doesn't make it sting any less.

For personal reasons, most SU fans dislike both of these teams, myself included.

Great game today though. Could be a 1 seed play-in game.

Never had a problem with UM. Loathe tOSU

Both teams are very good. The first thing I notice is the bodies. They all have huge bodies. Every player is physically superior to anyone on SU. Both teams can shoot, drive and dish. Both have young coaches and both teams play very hard.

I'm not knocking these teams coaching, obvious they are well coached. but the talent out there look pretty elite to me.

Between the two teams, only one player in the top 60 of the NBA mock draft I just looked at. And he is listed at #42. [Edit: I missed Wagner (in a different mock)... So, two guys.]

Good college players, but I didn’t see anyone that really impressed me as “elite.”

The one and done model has been exposed a bit this year.

Don't disagree, but I think an even bigger factor was not having normal summer workouts, not having the same practice schedule throughout the fall, etc.

That has a lot bigger impact when you're slapping together a team with new faces than a team like, say, Gonzaga, where many of the principals [not all -- one of their key players is a UF transfer] have played together and they have a generally veteran squad.

Honestly, I think that's partially why we see the likes of Houston and other teams like that on or about the top 10.

As we all know, you can be an elite college player and not pro material.

Yup. Cuse has had a who’s who of those type of players over the years.

Which again speaks to JB’s success, without overwhelming talent for a lot of the time.

And you can be an elite pro player without being a high draft pick. That wasn’t my point, though. Either way, I still only saw ‘good—not great—college players,’ not elite. But, maybe we just disagree on the definition and application of the word “elite.”

That’s one way of looking at it.
Another way is... 42 years, with only one NC.
Or, that we’ve still had more ‘talent’ than the other team in a higher percentage of games than we’ve actually won.
Or that Jb’s system is good for minimizing the ‘floor,’ but doesn’t adequately prepare players for the pros.

There are many perspectives.
We have had a lot of excellent players.

Michigan continues to impress, but osu is bad at defense

The rest of the team is blah
lol.
Washington and Young are anything but blah
(and I think Sueing and Walker are good players too, and then you throw in a dead-eye marksman like Ahrens and that's a helluva team - just don't play much defense as evidenced today)
