You're absolutely right. Big difference from the NBA (professional league) and the NCAA (semi professional league). NC wasn't the only team affected. Just look at GMac and his situation. College teams can't reach out to a pool of players and fill a need when the situation requires.

Just another example of how dysfunctional the whole college sports scene is now.

All I'm saying is could you imagine SU firing Red if he made the tourney this year? Not a shot, even if he limped in. UNC cares about brand image and pulled the trigger as soon as it was time.

Syracuse pulled the trigger on Red when it was time.

UNC is in the position of being able to hire virtually anybody they want and they can write big fat checks, so their standards are naturally higher. SU wasn’t in that position ever and probably never will be.

They truly are Rutgers south. The hype and expectations from their fans for this past year and forward because of Wade has been entertaining to read. Then they almost played themselves onto and off the bubble to the NIT.
