I've never really thought of Williams as being a great coach.

He seems like the kind of coach who just rolls the ball out on the floor and tells his players to play.

Roy Williams is the worst "coach" I have ever seen. Does he recruit great players and win? Yes, but he is a HORRIBLE coach. People call the Calapari the ulimate roll it out there coach, but Roy Williams makes Calapari look like Phil Jackson. Roy Williams team is getting blown the F out and he NEVER calls timeouts to try and stop momentum and help his team. I saw the end of the game his team is getting killed and he ends the game with 4 timeouts. Miami started the game on a 9-0 run and he never called a timeout and calmed his team down. Williams NEVER adjusts his philosophy to his talent they are the ultimate no defense and run in transition well Roy if you don't have Ty Lawson, Kendall Marshall, Raymond Felton PG you have to ADJUST to your talent. Is Roy Williams good at his job? Hell yes because he recruits elite talent and wins games, but my god the guy is horrible at in-game coaching.

UK, IU and UCLA all have deep pedigrees and all had coaches who couldn't recruit in the pass 20 years.

Roy Williams in game coaching is flat out embarrassing, the guy never calls timeouts to help his team, he plays a style that doesn't fit his talent. JB hasn't had the talent that Roy has had that is for sure and Gottlieb tweaks JB and SU because he is butthurt that he wasn't offered a scholarship by him. I am being objective and have no hatred of Roy Williams or the UNC program. The man is a HOF and has won 2 NCs, but his coaching is terrible and UNC fans hate his antics sometimes. Roy Williams is not a good "coach" but he can recruit and has won over 80% of his games? However watching him fail to adjust has to be infuriating for UNC fans give him a PG for his system and he wins, but if he doesn't have that PG his teams can't play his style, but he continues to play it.

Kansas is on UNCs level - they've been great since the Stone Age. You mention Kansas to a top recruit and you have their full attention
