This was in the Bleacher Report I get in my email. It's pretty unequivocal. Yowsers!

UNC Tutor Rips Roy Williams, Resigns

The drama surrounding troubled North Carolina guard P.J. Hairston seemingly has no end.

After multiple run-ins with trouble, Hairston is indefinitely suspended but remains on the roster – a fact that sent one Carolina athletic tutor over the edge. Jack Halperin wrote into the student newspaper The Daily Tar Heel, ripped Roy Williams for letting Hairston continue to stay on the team and then quit his job:

Wrote Halperin:

Roy, after 23 years as an academic tutor, and after going through the devastating football scandal, I am resigning in protest of your disgraceful decision to allow P.J. Hairston to remain on the team.

If I were arrested driving with no license, illegal drugs and a gun in a felon’s car, my employment at this University would end immediately.

Hairston’s DTH headline quote was, “I will play this season.” Since when does the criminal decide his fate?

Im sure this "athletic tutor" knew the story of how things work when he signed up for the job. Did he really think that he was a cog in some bastion of academic integrity?

I'm sure the tutor toed the company line for a long time but sometimes an opposing viewpoint is good for the conscious of the program. It's usually a bad thing when everyone is a yesman. Eventually you get fat, dumb and happy and then before you know it, the doodoo hits the wall. Believe it or not, the Bill Rapp scandal was probably the best thing for JAB and his future career.

"Hairston earned his way back from an indefinite offseason suspension by displaying a good attitude and completing ample extra conditioning."

Would somebody please explain to me what good attitude and extra conditioning has to do with getting back in Roy's/NCU good graces??

Makes you want to vomit.
This sounds a whole lot like Yukon's "punishments" ... where players charged with crimes miss a couple of practices and have to do 20 extra pushups.

Well, first of all, even a very fit camel who has its eyes wide open can be felled by one last straw. (Does that even make sense?)

Second, I don't think it's easy to speak truth to power.

Third, I am thinking of Southerland and Fab and all of our players who didn't even come close to what Hairston did, and yet he plays? I know I'm a month late and a million short, but it is just so blatant!

Then don't ever work for UK either.

Okay, I'm going to really expose my ignorance here. Everyone "jokes" about how Kentucky pays their players. So, if true, how does it work? How does the NCAA ignore it? I want to believe, but I need info!

The tutor didn't really think this one through. At the end of the day the only thing that stuck to PJ was a speeding ticket. Does he really think that students should be kicked out of school for traffic infractions? If so, that opens a whole new can of worms.

Meanwhile, a tenured UNC professor still has her job after multiple DUI convictions...notice how the tutor didn't complain about that. Good riddance.

So it was just a fairy tale that Harrison was using a car via a convicted felon, that there was a gun in the car, drugs present-------!

But he can smooth that over with good attitude and extra conditioning.

NCU can spin this anyway they want, but the real world can see what the story was. Shameful! (n)

Well, some of it is a fairy tale. For instance, there was not a gun in the car, and Hairston was never charged with having a weapon.

But, that's why we have a court system. Innocent until proven guilty, right? The biggest issue is the rental car, but that is an eligibility issue, not a criminal one.

Roy still hasn't announced PJs penalty yet for the legal issues (gun/drugs/speeding) - so that still stays in the news until that question is resolved. There is also some continuances in the courts that will be covered by the press.

* UNCCH hasn't said anything yet about the CAR RENTALS by Fats and company for PJ & McDonald (impermissible benefits). More press will probably come out of this since these are NCAA issues Roy/NCAA haven't publicly talked about these yet.

Itbotime. I spend a lot of time in Durham

Gun issue? More like non-issue, since no gun was found in the car and no one was charged with having a gun.

Drug issue? PJ's drug charge was dropped.

The only issues here are the speeding issue and the car rental issue. I expect PJ to miss a few games but nothing excessive.

Oh, just happened to be a gun laying on the ground near the SUV. Now it's all clear.

And the "car rental issue" is just an eligibility issue. So that will get overlooked and he'll only miss a few games. Oh Lord

More like four car issues and plenty of wink, wink stuff. But you're right he'll only miss two meaningless games.

However, I am looking forward to Dook and NCSU student section reactions to these "non incidents". :-)

Yeah, there was definitely a gun issue - a gun and ammunition were found outside the vehicle. Last I heard the police were doing forensic testing, haven't heard anything since.

The gun wasn't in the SUV and police didn't charge anyone with carrying the gun, so yes, that part is all clear.

And yes, the rental is an eligibility issue. Last I checked it wasn't unlawful to drive a rental car. It is an eligibility issue if the NCAA decides that it was an impermissible benefit, however. NC State's PG last year got caught driving a "borrowed" car and only missed 3 games, which is why I'm not too worried about Hairston. But, you never know with the NCAA.

Dook has no room to talk (Lance Thomas killed that), and NC State just sucks at everything...so, let 'em chant. ;)

If that is the case, don't expect to hear anything for a while. NC's SBI lab is on a skeleton staff and is incredibly backlogged right now...even the most basic checks are taking years to process.

Might all be Tarheel fans too.

Wow. awfully proud of that, huh?
Do you realize how ridiculous your attempts at spin are? Tell us, why/how were there guns and ammo found outside the vehicle? Was P.J. held hostage and taken for a ride by a bunch of thugs?
