He got 99 because it was open and came in as a DE. I don't know that either of those are "promises". And, again, not saying this ever even comes to fruition, just something that's been discussed.

Uhh... You picked one word from my post. The heritage of his fellow students is obviously not the point. The point is...

He's not coming from a football factory. He's not coming from a part of jersey that has a football culture. He's played against limited talent. He doesn't come from a winning program. He is undersized (hence all his tweets to coach with him on the scale). He wasn't dominating, even in that environment.

He has a great frame, and a pretty good motor and good genes (pretty sure his dad played D1). He has potential. But if he doesn't contribute as a TRUE freshman, that doesn't mean he's a disappointment. People set unnecessarily high expectations on unknown / unproven players.

I'm not sure what his Jewish HS has to do with his ability to play D1 football as a freshman, but whatever...
