Uniform discussions have become rampant due to the Oregon Ducks and the changes here.

Check out Northwestern using a one-off look to raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior program:

If you don't like them, fine. Traditionalists have a passionate and respectable viewpoint. But welcome to the modern business practices of college football and brands that associate themselves with it.

No problem with one offs.

The spattered blood all over the helmet, jersey, pants and shoes is...questionable.

I like it as a one time thing- and its 'merica's colors.
I think the problem that most have with ours is that there is next to no orange in ours.

Those are badass. It's not blood spatter, it's made to look worn as if they've been through some rough stuff.

im cool with that.

ill use your thread to get back on my soap box...

a one off all black, white or gray?? no problem.

all USA...Fn hell yeah.

all blue and no ORANGE for the upteenth time?? N.O.

Fair comment. Highly debated...but checked with actual Wounded Warrior members who were into it for symbolism purposes.

"raising awareness" = total bullstuff.

Donating a ton of money to Wounded Warriors raises awareness. Building a fundraiser for Wounded Warriors raises awareness. Wearing stars and stripes uniforms does jack stuff... So sick of this money grab.

Aren't they then going to sell the game-worn uniforms with all proceeds going to Wounded Warriors?

well alrighty then.

whos making $$ on this??

other than the wounded warrior foundation, but apparantly you think not.

lil help here.....

Didn't see that, but if it's actually 100% of proceeds good on them. That's what they should be doing.

Not like the NFL which donates 8% of proceeds to Susan G. Komen.

"Reading is FUNdamental"

From the article link provided by MAD:

After the game, the jerseys will be auctioned off through Northwestern, with 100 percent of the proceeds going toward the Wounded Warrior Project.

Did Under Armour donate the jerseys to Northwestern? From what I've read, only the uniforms actually worn in the game were being auctioned for 100% of the profits (were those uniforms donated ? I'm assuming they did that) but from Under Armour's sale of the uniforms themselves - they are donating $7.49 or approx. 10% to the Wounded Warrior project.

Those are cool unis.

Let me use that positive comment as a jumping off point to declare that I am sick to death of our all-blue uniforms.

Sick. To. Death.

I liked them at first, but now they just remind me of how great our regular uniforms are.

They should be an occasional or one-off. I hate the fact that we appear to be foregoing orange in the home unis.

yep once was enough, and i would prefer a little more of a drastic change as a once a season thing. not whatever the hell we did.

Why I like our traditional uniforms.

First, they look great.

Second, they allow me to see our new players as I saw our former players.

I would like to see T. Hunt running and throwing while looking like McNabb, Graves and McPherson.

It adds a link to our past that makes watching the team fun.

And, I am superstitious - we have played well over the years in the Coach Mac uniforms.

Wearing the uniforms raises money directly for Wounded Warriors. The only marketing gimmickry here is For the brand to be innovative, cast new light on a cause that reps the money.

The brand will make zilch from this on a cause the brand has supported for years. Goodness, it's Northwestern football.

A shame that some people take a sports management course or two and think they have it all figured out (before even reading the article.)

so if you turn on the TV on saturday and didn't know Northwestern was wearing those unis for the Wounded Warriors Foundation you'd make that link in your head?

Also, taking shots at me was real necessary, thanks. I'm passionate about these things because my family has been affected by cancer and I'm sick of the breast cancer awareness BS and all the other awareness stuff that just uses that as a front to make money. Donate all the money directly to the Wounded Warrior foundation, they'd be much better off with that than some stupid uniforms.

with the NFL being a non-profit I am surprised they are even donating 1% of anything. They must be looking out for their image

There was a link to an article that gaged details that show this is not the NFL shorty 4.5% on the "Pink" program.

To think everything else is corrupt is corrupt unto itself. The Wounded Warrior program runs deep through Under Armour

(And as a Board Advisor to a Brain Cancer 501c(3) I am keenly aware there is bs out there AND great initiatives.)

What's nice about being on this board, and having spent 4 years from 1964-68 in the Army Security Agency is the differing viewpoints. I have no problem with the young people, wanting to have different uniforms to reflect the times, after all it is their team now. As long as they respect the traditions, and play hard, what more can we as fans want? Step back, look in the mirror, that's the only person who is gong to agree with you 100% of the time. By the way, next Monday if any of you know a Veteran tell them "Thank You", it just might make their day. The people on this board are why I've always been able to say " Proud to have served".
