While watching a random game last night I heard the announcers discussing the undefeated and 6th ranked Nevada Wolf Pack. They stated that the starting 5 averages 23.5 years of age and are all grad transfers. I didn't bother to look it up and I may have misheard but, if true, it somewhat boggles my mind.

Here is a story on the coach, Eric Musselman, and a little info on the team from SI in October.

Nevada coach Eric Musselman is his father's son

You sure they didn't say 5th year grads that are former transfers? As already stated the Martins have now played 2 seasons at Nevada, this is Caroline's 3rd season at Nevada after transferring from SIU. so 2/5 are grad transfers.

You’re speaking of transfers who are now graduate students, while the most frequently used definition of “graduate transfers” is players who were redshirted for a year, played for School A for 3 years, got their degree, and then transferred to School B.

Caleb and Cody Martin are not grad transfers.

They were only at NC State for two years.
I believe they start 5 fifth-year players ("regular" and grad transfers); there may be more on the bench.

Musselman will leave for UCLA after this season. He followed Mike Brey’s “Get old and stay old” model to success. Plus he lucked out having the Martin twins both pull their names from tbe draft. He also takes a page out of JB’s book, wanting size at every position/being bigger than his opponents across the board.

My twins actually go to UNR so I watch the team as much as I can out here on the west coast. This team is fun to watch. They like to run. There's not much competition in the Mountain West Conference for basketball, so I think they may go undefeated in conference play. Sad to say that I prefer watching them over the Orange this year.

When you have 3 guys that could have left but returned and got better that is a recipe for success. Caroline is probably better than the Martins. They get those tweener guys tho aren't quite good enough for the NBA. Year before last Cam Oliver left early to go undrafted last years team should have had him.

Surrounding cast is good enough that their first ever 5 star recruit freshman doesn't play. 3 transfers who sat for a year Jazz Johnson from Portland who is shooting .555 from 3 and never misses, Porter the big man from ODU (not a bad program as we know) and Thompson who was UNOs best player.

They'll lose everyone other than the 3 point specialist next year.

Over/Under on grad transfers next year? Of course, they may get some traditional transfers who are granted immediate eligibility (however that works).

it's like NCAA hockey. Guys play in juniors a couple years and then go to college. Lot of college hockey teams have 24 and 25 year olds. I think the oldest you can be at start of season is 24. Those older teams also make the runs to the Frozen Four. College hockey fans please confirm. I might be wrong.

6'11, 209...right up our alley. might have to get him on a diet though to cut some weight.
