unresponsive flight out of rochester

Not good I hope they can prevent the plane from crashing.

I'm not sure if you're being serious... but with the frosted windows, more than likely the plane depressurized at some point and everyone on board has already passed. They are following to make sure it doesnt crash into a civilized area. a la Payne Stewart.

but unfortunately, it will probably run out of fuel and go down.

Didn't this just happen with another flight a few days ago out over the ocean? Horrible.

Sounds like it could be Larry Glazer, owner/developer of Buckingham Properties. He is working on projects in Naples and the plane is registered to him.

He hasnt returned calls (indicating he could be on the plane) - but the company has said no comment at this time.

OMG, not Glazer! Best developer in town, city-centric, doing great things, major, positive force. Why him and not another Rochesterian, slum landlord Malcolm Glazer (I know, already dead ... and no relation to Larry).

My brother is an electrician here in Rochester and does all the electric work at Larry Glazer's home as well as most of the work for Buckingham Properties, so he knows Larry pretty well and has told me several times what a great guy he is. Just called my brother and he wasn't even aware of it since he is working. Hopeing Larry wasn't on the plane...

Such a tragedy. Feel horrible for the family.

unfortunately, his son confirmed that it was Larry and his wife on the plane.

Jamaican authorities said there was 1 other person on the flight but no details.

Oh no, His wife too? I think her name is Jane... Sad.

Based upon projections, the plane should have run out of fuel by now.

What a shame.

It crashed at 2:15 in the ocean 14 miles north of Jamaica. They had probably already passed by then due to the decompression.

Thankfully, at least it didn't crash somewhere near inhabited land, where more people may have been impacted. That's the only silver lining in this otherwise sad story.

I'm ignorant . How does this happen? Decompression of the plane? Awful.

he wasn't as big a deal as glazer but the university of rochester lost an incredible finance professor when he crashed his plane a few years back. two really important people here

i don't know if this was pilot error but i think that flying your own plane is a really bad idea for anyone who doesn't do it for a living

Unless you're this guy.

Plane decompresses and puts everyone to sleep quickly due to lack of oxygen.

At 25,000 feet, you've got 3 to 5 minutes to get oxygen on or you are out.

I checked the airplane specs. It can cruise up to 28,000 feet. You have to have a pressurized cabin above 12,000. So something probably happened that sucked all the air out of the cabin. For most planes when this happens the cause is metal fatigue. I wonder how old the airplane was?

The lack of oxygen is what gets you in the end.

Reports say he had over 5000 hours as a pilot.

Very very sad. Could something like this have happened to the Malaysian airline?

Brand new, state-of-the-art aircraft purchased in February.

Possible, I guess, but the commercial airliners have automated oxygen masks that drop down. I don't think most smaller 'personal' aircraft have that. Could be wrong though...
