in the weeds today. I don't have any idea as do all others on this board if Eric will be playing again this year and he was the face and heart of this football team. Latest as of 6:12 P.M. last night: “Eric Dungey was just carted out to the team bus. He could not walk on his own.” @CitrusTVSports
As soon as he went down ours was a different team it seemed, with a different style of playing. I believe ED's loss affected them how could it not? This is a young team that faced a talented, much more experienced Notre Dame team yesterday. The main difference was the Quarterback. Book has an outstanding arm and can find receivers through small windows. But Dungey was, I believe, almost his equal and a better runner. In the space of 9 minutes from the start we didn't have him anymore or his passing and running ability. Maybe all the hits, hurdles, jumping off cliffs into a pool of water finally caught up with him and said “Nope that's it for today sonny.” I wish him and his family well. Our true leader was gone and I hope he'll be back able to finish the season, but we don't really know if he'll ever be back, yet. Sucks big time.
Their defensive backfield must have been through our film x 100 because they really covered our receivers well, so much so, that TD had no one to throw to and constantly threw out of bounds or out of reach of anyone to avoid an interception. Another three and out. Seemed like we had three plays even though they knew what was coming. Neal off tackle, Neal up the gut, screen or pass into the flat and hope the blockers stayed on their man. Tommy, though he has shown how really good he is, hasn't much game experience. I think we all believe he has a true gun, can throw the ball more accurately than Eric and will take on ED's legacy and become the new Leader of this team though his running ability I have not seen yet. A true dual threat like Chance? Haven't even seen him yet.
It's going to be a very challenging, (for position), time at SU this winter, spring, and camp. We have 85 + non seniors, 43 Fr and R Fr. and the incoming 2109 class that's half full with a RB I'm going to christen, "the Jet", that will gain the experience and we'll be on our way to another winning season and bowl game in 2019.
But I'm getting ahead of myself. I hope we go to Chestnut Hill this coming Saturday whoever the QB is and get a W. GOSU![Smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/smile.png)
