Carey said Saturday the injury occurred during SU’s game against Buffalo on Dec. 18. He played a total of 10 minutes in that game, scoring four points on 2-of-3 shooting, grabbing two rebounds, making an assist and a steal. At some point during that span, he said, he felt something strange in his hip.
“To be honest, I don’t know what happened,” he said. “I just felt a lot of pain in it.”
Carey said the hip is “fine now.” He said he’s practiced the last two days with his Orange basketball teammates, without significant discomfort. He expects to be available to play tomorrow, when SU meets St. Bonaventure in the Carrier Dome for a 2 p.m. game. He worked out on Friday, before practice officially started, with no visible physical impediments.
