In loving memory of Steve aka SWC aka GOAT, I will do some upside downside posts when I am able.

Given the importance of QB, the newness of Angeli and coming of arguably the best single season of QB play in Cuse history, doing one dedictated to Angeli seems like a good place to start (I think Steve would have liked it)

All stats are relative to P4 QBs (73 qualify as of week 3 with a min 30 drop backs)

#1 in Total Passing Yards

#1 In Total 'Big Time Throws'

#2 In 'Big Time Throws' percentage

#1 in 1st downs Completed

#11 In lowest time to throw overall

#11 in Touchdowns

#15 in longest average depth to target (how far down field is his average throw)

#17 in total Passing Grade

#1 In Completions that travel > 20 yards

#7 in passing grade for passes that travel > 20 yards

#15 In lowest time to throw for passes that travel > 20 yards

#19 In completion Percentage

Bottom Line: I think Steve is doing well in some of the toughest categories, (getting rid of the ball quickly, being aggressive and effective down the field). Though, I am surprised the completion percentage or the adjusted completion percentage isn't better given he's known for accuracy but am optimistic that can be cleaned up easily given its his wheelhouse.

That 2.5 quarter stretch vs UConn really hurt his percentages. It just seemed like he was air mailing several throws I would wager he normally hits. He also has a couple drops from the wideouts. I suspect his completion percentage will smooth out over time and settle in at a nice enough number. He has also been getting hit a lot causing misfires ... the OL has not been good to him.

Great post. Nixon is running the offense just like last year. Expecting Angeli to do everything McCord did with no exceptions. And with less experience, he is handling it. (And maybe facing more rush pressure than McCord too).

-QBR went from 128 to 155 this week.

-we rank #3 in the country in plays 20 yards or more. And Angeli’s average completion so far is longer than Kyle’s. We are stretching the field a little more.

-Upcoming games: SMU worst pass D in the ACC, Duke not good, Pitt has not played a good QB at all yet, and even Clemson is only ranked #11 in the ACC. Hopefully we can win some shootouts.
