USA Dream Team 1992 vs. 2012

Is LeBron going to back him down in the low post like he so frequently does to defenders in all his games now? Bron hates contact, he's a finesse player that just happens to be huge. Playing against stars bigger than himself, he wouldn't get all the calls he does now. He would want no part of banging inside against Barkley, Robinson, and Malone. They might actually have made him cry if he tried. Magic would've done fine against LeBron.

Methinks you havent watched a lot of Lebron games in the NBA. He does not shy away from contact and is a force on the glass as well. He is taking less jumpers than ever this season. He has converted the most "and-1's" in the NBA over the past 6 seasons. He basically glides right through contact.

Admittedly have not watched any NBA this year so if LeBron is now consistantly posting guys up my apologies. 7.9 RPG isn't exactly a force on the glass though, by that standard Magic Johnson was also a force on the glass.

This is all hypothetical matchups but LeBron wouldn't get LeBron calls against those other superstars. If anything he might foul out due to MJ getting alot of MJ the calls. Go back and watch any of those 1992 guys playing defense. The contact isn't of the "glide through" variety.

Actually if you're using 2012 refs then the entire 2012 team might foul out trying to guard MJ.

It is a good question, how is the game being reffed? They let a lot less physicality go now.

Either way the advantage goes to 92 team IMO. MJ was unstoppable when they allowed hand checking and bodying up on the perimeter, by todays rules he'd be untouchable, scary. If they go by the old rules most of 12 team players would be in for arude awakening as far as adjusting to that goes. Much easier to adjust to less contact than more IMO.

It's easier to adjust to less contact offensively, but if you're used to playing defense with your hands on the perimeter, it might be tough to adjust to that.

I'm 21, have no recollection of the 92 team...but I would take them in a narrow victory over 12. That game would be an absolute war.

That is true. And LeBron is awesome and no one can fully shut him down. However, there is no one in the NBA right now that is like Scottie Pippen on defense as a wing. Scottie would give him more trouble than any player currently in the NBA.

Jordan never had to worry about the refs. The Jordan Rules applied, remember? He could mug a guy or take an extra step whenever he wanted.
The '92 team is definitely way better imo. And Chris Bosh might cry in this hypothetical.

LOL, I think Bosh and Lebron would be forced into crying by the 92 team. Durrant would be held out of the game for fear he would be broken in half by Malone.
