USC and UCLA

USC QB just threw about 5 perfect passes in a row to march them down for a TD. Impressive.

I don’t think they can stay ahead of a good Utah defense like that all night but what a drive.

Dinos Rose is off the bloom. Last year was the year for him to jump. Swann retaining H was huge for us. Dino is not going anyplace.

He’s also their 3rd stringer.

He’s been great so far. He has a slow delivery but puts it in the right spot.

Entertaining first quarter. Not sure how long I will last.

Yes and no. I agree with you that the recruiting should see an uptick but at the same time I really doubt we'll ever be in a spot where recruiting here is easy or, perhaps more accurately, as easy as many other places in the country. Not a ton of talent in NY and tough to keep that talent at home regardless. Tough to keep up with the factories on a facilities basis. I mean Penn State is really the only program in the northeast (MD, Rutgers, Temple, Cuse, BC, UMass, UB, Pitt) that has shown any kind of sustained success and much of that has to do with the fact that A) they aren't really a northeast school and B) The absurd prolonged success of the guy who was harboring a serial pedophile gives them a distinct advantage on a brand level.

Is Dino OK with that additional challenge to building a consistent winner? I don't know the answer but it's clearly a hurdle we have as a program and others around us do as well.

Recruiting is easy when you win. Alabama sucked and they were not recruiting well. Once the winning came, the recruits went up. Same with all schools, win and you will recruit. Some schools get the inflated rankings (see Texas during their downturn) but the players were not really as elite as the inflated rankings, though, they were still better than average.

Su has a built in handicap, no, not the weather. Most people realize that playing in a Dome means you have a fast track and perfect weather during games. The reality is that SU expects kids to attend classes. See UNC, and SEC school, and several others. I appreciate this aspect, and I think HCDB does, too. We will never get the kids that want to hang at the beach, get girls coast until they get in the NFL draft and never attend class, but do we want them?

I get that NY does not have a lot of developed talent, but so what, Coach Mac and PP seemed to get the kids to play. HCDB is now doing the same. As for present recruiting, remember, SU has a 1 winning season "streak" that most kids are aware of. They don't know SU history. HCDB is getting the word out. It took Dabo Swinney five years to get to championship level and he started with a winning team. Even Nick Saban had some work to do before he won his first championship (LSU).
