First of all, the two teams shared the same LA Coliseum for 50+ years.Don't get me wrong, they do want to beat UCLA in everything. The football game does take a backseat to ND, though, and if John McKay didn't think South Bend was too cold in November, it would always be the last game of the year instead of just the last game of even-numbered years. UVa has a similar on-going "family discussion" as to whether our rival is VPI or UNC. It's a generational divide with the older alums saying UNC and the younger ones saying VPI. Everyone wants to beat them both, but VPI is the last football game of the year.
