FYI: the 2012 edition of the FBS Private School rankings should be out tonight.

I got everything ready to go last night and have the spreadsheet updated for the preseason. I hope to find time tonight to process the Week 1 polls and associated data.

Agreed, I would prefer not to play a USC squad that needed to prove a point.

Probably has more to do with Alabama's complete embarassment of a B1G ranked team versus USC's rather routine walk in the park win over Hawaii Can't see USC fretting over this. I prefer to think that voters saw USC's next opponent and chose to downgrade them a little now and a little next week.

they sure did--especially for the first game, playing a tough opponent, and having to replace a lot of key starters.

If they don't falter, I think everyone else is playing for second place.

I think everyone realized that Lane Kiffin has not proven anything, Saban has. Writers are fickle and with Alabama losing a lot of people, they were naturally downgraded. The Michigan game corrected any misconcetions about Alabama.
