The Big East is bad, but the bad teams also have good coaches. Rice, Purnell, Willard and Cooley vs. Hill Jr., Wainwright, Gonzo and Keno? Heath is also a good coach. There are literally 16 good coaches in the conference that range from merely good to legendary. That's a tough conference.

Teams that have been good recently are very bad this year. Like you said, Nova is a train wreck, ND sucks, Pitt is a mess, St. Johns stinks again.

The top is strong as usual, the middle is thinner and not as good as in recent years while the bottom is bigger but not as bad. In the end, this league is looking at no more than 7 bids, is that high?

The bad teams are still bad. They just look better because they are upsetting the teams that are normally at top (Nova, pitt, ND, SJ etc) but suck this yr. But the big east can dominate every yr, eventually it will have its down yrs. 6-7 bids max this yr

Offensively Nova looked....well, offensive. I only watched the last ten minutes, but I think they were stuck on 55 points for about 7 of those minutes. Wow, they'd just come down jack up a poor jump shot have it clang off the rim and go back on defense.

I really hope those same shots aren't going in 60% of the time on Wednesday. That Villanova first half last year was awfully discouraging.
